out of curiosity it has to be 2 years domain subscription in order to pay for the first year 1$ and you end up the 2nd year to pay much more? I don't quite remember.

It can be for 1 year and the renewal is the same as a regular domain. I've used it plenty of times. You have to pay with a card though.

Porkbun and name silo are the $8.xx for the first year and every year after that and you won't need to pay for Whois privacy, most other registrar will charge you for it.
Ionos is $1 for the first year, but renews at $15, so it is cheaper to use namesilo or porkbun if you will have the domain for longer than 2 years. Same with GoDaddy. It's cheap for a year then is 17.99 after. With GoDaddy you can only have 1 domain for the low price. Ionos I think is as many as you want. Same with porkbun and namesilo.
