Hi everyone at BHW,
I am a new entry to bhw. Let me first say i have no experience ever doing a business online or offline. I am starting from step 1 today. The few past months ive extensively and actively researched about almost all topics discussed here on these forums and others so i believe i have a basic knowledge about how everything works.
So right now, i am thinking about downloading opensource html5 games, slightly modifying and repacking them to apk's and selling them in the play store. I am a college student from India with just a little spare change, about 50$ rn. and i realize getting a dev account on play store is 25$ already. Ya so thats fine.
Anyway, i am thinking of documenting my journey from day 1 with my goals for the day and my action strategy on this thread. My logic is that, on searching on the internet ,i didnt come upon a single large thread where the dude was as inexperienced as me and started from scratch documenting their experience along the way. Also, posting it publicly like this might help me gain more momentum and not slack off. The biggest advantage though would be that incase im going to make a humongous mistake and one of you happen to see it, i might get a powerful logical advise and i would walk along the right direction then. Granted, i still might make alot of mistakes, but i believe this would be a good thing to do. So i hope this wouldnt violate any forum rules and stuff. Anyways thats my plan for now :D.
For today, i am going to start an android developer account paying 25$. and then i'm going to search for opensource html5 games which are worth putting on the play store. Such that the highest rated similar game on playstore rn doesnt have so much traction that it messes with me ever standing a chance. what dyu guys think?

It sounds like you have a rough template for your journey and are taking the proper steps to excel down that path.

I suggest you head to the making money / mobile subforum and scout the latest money making methods there before committing further down your path of repacking games.

Generally a good idea to think if it were that easy, why doesnt everyone do it?

Thanks,
So as far as what i understood, i can see articles on the net stating both for and against this point. Compared to the other ones ive encountered for different strategies, this has more for statements. I recently saw one on bhw itself also. Its fairly easy to do as far as i understood, though i dont know how to use android studio but its nothing a youtube tutorial wont fix.

The against statements are that, well there are already too many reskinned versions of the same app and finding one thats unique is really hard.
Secondly, the idea that if a free ad-less version of my own app exists, why would people even use my app?.
thirdly, googles policies seem to restrict it but at the same time it seems to be difficult to verify.

Also, just putting the apps over there wouldnt do the work. i would have to personally see to it that its marketed well and i have no idea on how to do that but thats a different subtopic altogether which i will need to learn from bhw.

My aim for now is to make apps such that i make 500$ a month.
There is also the fact that, my college work is pretty tight. It leaves me about an hour everyday for this activity and no im not making excuses. So anything else which has proper content creation involved would require me to either do the work myself or hire freelancers to do it for me, but this is if i can market everything right.

I was also advised to start proper social media accounts for my businesses.

So i believe going forward with app reskinning might be good only. Atleast, its been the most attractive idea to me so far. Its like im willing to put in whatever effort necessary in the short amount of time i have per day. and app reskinning fits the deal.

There a paid pdf to learn everything you need.

cheek the misc.

all I no is rehashing apps with ads earn good money.

I had a go was too hard for me being honest I get very frustrated learning complicated apps and code.

but I know for a fact once you get going and the apps start getting downloads you can earn very good money

reshrinking
been around many years but still very profitable .

I don't think mobile devices are going anywhere just getting better.

I searched up the one you mentioned but if i found the correct one, i think it costs around 700USD. At present i have a 50$ monthly budget. so i wont be able to afford it.
I researched up more about this venture and am convinced that this is the way to go for me. I know general coding, did competitive coding for a little while for my college internships also. I have never tried android studio or java though so ill have to give that a whirl but its still fine.

Every single days steps would involve research to start off with and on the day before, i would create a list of what all to research too
So today's steps that i am going to implement :-
1. Download and get around to understanding Android Studio a bit.
2. Actually take the first step and purchase a 25$ android dev account.
3. Find a few HTML5 games, understand how licenses work, see how it is converted to apk's and how it is modified thereafter.

Also, to everyone reading this. Any and all tips are appreciated, and if you ever see me doing something horribly wrong, please do spare a moment and call me out!

Todays update :-

These 3 have been done.

I have proceeded to start making an app for CGPA calculation which takes as input the user id and password of students in my university. Hopefully this will be enough to let me understand how android studio works better. I shall upload the same app as my first app on my dev account, monetize it, and spread the same info to everyone in my UNI so that they download it too. Its a value add over the conventional method of CGPA calculation.

So tomorrows goals :-
1. Finish coding part of said app.
2. Try and finish the design part too.
3. Find how to monetize the app and do it.

Good luck pal! I'll be following this journey :)

Good luck with your journey! My advice is to find a business model that resonates with you and that can tap into your particular skill set. Seems like this is the right business model for you. The biggest roadblocks I've found in moving forward are always the ones where you have to rely on others in areas where you don't have a lot of knowledge. I think you're right to try and learn as much as you can yourself - you can always outsource down the track once you're profitable, and then you can scale your business.

Dont see anything wrong. Go for it if youve got the time and can put in the effort.

Ok, So todays update. i got to learning how to use android studio much better but it will take more time. As my project involves web scraping and sending requests to a server and thats something i haven't ever done, its proving hard to do that as that i believe needs to be learned in and of itself.
So as of now i'm learning how to do that. My difficulty is that my application should automatically log into a site and retrieve certain data from the side it redirects to on pressing submit, and i'm finding it difficult to do that.
I am going to go in deeper to this till i finish it. I realize this might not be instrumental in the whole process im doing, but i have a feeling that doing an app by myself will give me enough skills for this. plus it costs 0$

So this is Day 2, budget :- 25$ left, Money earned:- 0.00$

Tomorrows plans is to actually learn about web scraping and implement it successfully.

Thanks! Yes i do believe this business model resonates with my current skill set. At least compared to the other online options, this resonates best. Plus , rather than just traditional reskinning. I can take the source code of the app, figure out some way to put a little value add into it and publish said app which also might stand out for its value. Again i dont know how tough this might be.
Anyhow, as far as i understand, at maximum ill be able to only publish 1 app a day(for new accounts) which means once i get to reskinning and publishing my first app, i have all the time in a day just for that one app.

Todays Update:-
So its not a simple task at all, i got around to learning how to send http push and get requests and obtain source file as well as catch a cookie. Tomorrow i need to learn how to use said cookie to access another webpage and then its a straight path to finishing my first app. This is by no means easy! But its fun!
