Correct me if im wrong about the content this tool is pulling?! Will it not be alot of duplicated content and SE will penalty this tool and then ban the domain ??

Otherwise look like a great tool overall!

Thanks for your question. Whether or not duplicate content penalties exist is quite arguable, but any penalties that might exist are most definitely reduced when switching the context in which the content appears. A move from the Yahoo Answers site, for example, to a phpBB3 forum, completely changes how the content is displayed and parsed by search engines.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

I have been simply blown away by this application; it does exactly what it says on the tin. I setup my forum yesterday and now I have 63 users "online". I have tried another well know alternative and couldn't get it to work. Also, the support which oldenstylehats gave during the installation was faultless. In summary, fantastic product, even better support. Highly recommended.

This is how to do business online!

I just got in this post late and started reading to see, but 25 pages is a bit much.
SO lol, can you pick the source of scraping yet?

i want specific celebrity stuff so yahoo answers wont work. Looking to scrape the existing celeb forums? Will that work?

Also does the software need to keep running? Has anyone set up a forum creation service say for someone just needs one time thing?

The demo link is down so couldnt see site, again didnt read all 25 page so if there is a new link bear with me. IS there new demo link ?

Thanks

Thanks
Currently, you are limited to the sites that we've selected. The next version (2.0) that I've just started development on will change this significantly. The demo for the current version is active (for me.) It uses phpBB3 currently, but once again, that will be changing in the next upgrade, which all current customers will receive for no extra cost.

The software does have to keep running on the server. We discussed with our current customer base the idea of changing everything over to a service model, but about 75% of the people that responded to our survey wanted to have us continue developing it as an entirely server-side application. Thanks for your questions and let me know if you have any others.

thanks for quick reply
is there a list to get on so you can let me know when the pick the source version is out?

ha i will be your beta tester lol

You had mentioned HG has had trouble with limiting crin jobs is this still the case? I have a shared hosting and a business plan with HG. Am I still OK to stay with them or should I find another solution?

Is there a post somewhere or any info on how to best monetize this?

Also my shared hosting is not c class as far as I know would it be a bad move to put FG on the same host as the sites I would be linking to?

Thanks
HG kills crons and also no longer allows files to be set to 777, which negatively impacts how FG runs on HostGator servers. The 2.0 Light release will be aimed at shared hosting environments like these. With regard to monetizing, I'd say the best way is to use it as an SEO tool to promote money pages, CPA offers, etc. Check out threads all over this forum for how to use pages that rank well to make money.

You can also monetize with AdSense, AdBrite, and similar programs or by putting banners in the signatures of users (which is automated by the program.)

With regard to IP's, it depends on who you talk to, but distributing them as well as possible across different IP ranges is probably best practice. Thanks for your interest and let me know if you have any other questions.

At Hg you can run all the crons you want, just cant be done faster then every 15 mins.
Anything needing 777 will run with 755 due to the way they set the servers up.

I did come into this thread late so if the info is off due to the specific reqs, my apologies.

FG requires multiple one-minute cron jobs to work properly. With regard to the file permissions changes, we've run into nothing but troubles with their new requirements. The new version will address both of these issues.

Ya 1 min crons will get you suspended
Yeah. Unfortunately, some our customers found this out the hard way. It is possible to setup an external cron-like process that calls the necessary pages, but there has been some evidence that they're actually actively targeting a few of FG's processes and killing them when they run. It hasn't been an across-the-board response, but some customers have definitely had issues.

In what ways will this be a 'light' release meaning is there something that will be inferior, and if so is it anything to worry about? I'd probably be using forums mostly for links and CPA offers at my initial thoughts...

I'll likely get this but have been saving for Xrumer, I might be able to swing both. Any estimate on the light versions delivery and price?

Thanks again.

I have already had issue with HG and their 777 policy, I believe bluehost has the same policy....
The Light release is going to be aimed at people on shared hosting environments, so it won't have as many options as the full version and also won't pull from the same number of content sources. The price will be in the sub-$100 range, though we haven't decided on a price yet. Our hope is to be testing with our current customers (who will get a free copy) by the end of the holiday season.

Customers of the full version will get both, but "light" customers will have to pay an upgrade price to get the full version should they choose to upgrade.

i only have hosting that allows for the cron jobs to happen once a day, im on servage.net hosting plan, what hosting company would i need ?

You'd need to find either a VPS or dedicated host within your budget to run the current version of Forum Generator.

FYI-- hostgator just opened the vps hosting up again
starts at 20.00
