If an average article word count in top10 results is 2500 words, do I have a chance to rank in top10 with a 1500 article at all?

Or should I aim for at least 2500 to have chance to rank in top 10? How important it is?

You can rank with a 2500 word article or a 250 word article.

yes, you do. you could produce a top-notch 1.5k word article that google finds unique but bear in mind kws search volume.

You're absolutely right here that links can rank an article even with just 250 words.
It basically comes down to the trade-off... you need more links to rank a shorter article. So I mix and match so at times I write long articles and sometimes short ones.

Here's an example:
Query: "how to redirect http to https?"
Look at the top results... they all offer me to read what https is, then what ssl is, then why I should do it, some words of warning... and then I finally find a paragraph of how to do it and 2 lines of code. So I had to scroll through those long articles wasting my time to find something something so simple.

Exactly my point. Google gives more prominence to backlink profile. They care less about how long your contents are, as long as they're unique and valuable.
