To my knowledge, Bitcoin is just a payment processor. I'd like to learn in-depth about this virtual currency & related investments. So, where do i start?

I used to have a tiny farm running from a RPi and four USB hubs daisy chained together with a mix of Block Erupters and 2.0GH Antminers. If I remember correctly I was mining around 20GH. Unfortunately as the Bitcoin difficulty level grew it became less and less effective. I think in total I mined about 0.6 of a Bitcoin which I sold in the peak mid December 2014 and then started eBay'ing off my USB miners. Actually I sold my USB miners for more than I bought them for so all in all I made a tidy profit.

I'd love to get back into doing this, just with better equipment however I feel that the tide has turned for the small mining farms and the ROE would be harder to reach these days. You can start off with Bitcoin faucets and zero investment however its a long slow road to making any Bitcoin as your dealing with micro amounts of satoshi. Still it's there as an option if you want to get into doing it?

It allows people to exchange value without centralized counter-parties.

You start by watching videos on youtube and using Google search engine to research.

Never trust mining profitability calculators or do cloud mining. If you really want to learn about bitcoin, go on meetup and look for the blockchain groups. Go talk to a crowd of people that live and breath it.

I'd wait for it to crash to U$ 200 and then buy some for online business.:p

Well, I made good profits during 2017 and 2018 cryptocurrency market bull run.

But I also lost tonne of money during the crypto market crash in the mid 2018 more especially on altcoins.

You just shared my story the only difference is that I lost all that I made and ran into debts since 2018 till today. I'm on BHW to see if I can find something that makes me some money in 2020

Welcome to BHW, buddy!

With no profits in crypto these days, boys got to find another way :)

never invested, but i made ton of profits through trading bitcoin.
not margin trading but peer to peer local trading like paxful and localbitcoins.

choose a safe payment method
create a selling advertisement for higher rate
buy btc on lower rate from another market

you can set your own btc price on those advertisements.

sell higher
buy lower
repeat the process ;)
