Instagram is jacking TikTok: Announce new 'Reels' mode

Not really much of a surprise, since Instagram has a long history of copying other platforms' features. Most notably the 'Stories' feature which is a copy of Snapchat's.

Techcrunch released a video recently showing the new feature. It's officially in Brazil as of now. I'm sure there's more to come.

I think tiktok will implement something with photo sharing to attack this kind of feature steal that Instagram is doing during this years, and if tiktok has a photo sharing with the engagement that it provides I think instagram will lose for tiktok...people are tired about all of the stuff things that instagram is doing related to engagement

I don't know if Instagram will "die" anytime soon. But, if TikTok releases interesting updates in the future, the hype for it could continue and maybe start cementing. Given that they gain more of a Western audience as well.

Not so fast guys, LoL. "don't believe the hype". there's more than enough space for both platforms to exist. Instagram is booming and TikTok could easily be the number 2 guy (in terms of usage amoung young people).

Only time can tell.

It was cool in 2013 but it's really boring now.

Tik Tok and Instagram are two completely different platforms IMO. The user base and culture around IG is much different that Tik-Tok.

I don't know how Tik-Tok will form in the future to come. Hard to say at the moment, but from what I seen the user base is much younger and their is mostly tier 3 traffic.
