After ranking my adult site to the first page, several other adult sites contacted me for an exchange link. Thinking that it may be beneficial for me because it will give more traffic I agreed. But after several days my domain and page authorithy went down along with my site's rank. Does this mean exchange link is bad for SEO?

I thought its dead already? Those sidebar linking - been 2 years no longer following this issue

Been dead for a long long time, no one does it anymore .

I do remember people having "Link Exchange" and "Partner Sites" sections on their websites once, seems like a really long time ago

Exchange links or reciprocal links are known to be the first hack used by web page owners when it comes to SEO. These links will not harm your website at all. Also, these links can help a lot in providing traffic to your website, as well as in ranking. Moreover, Google will not penalize your website if you're using this type of link.

Hell yeah it is bad for SEO. If you aren't aware of that you are either years behind of current SEO knowledge or you just started getting into SEO. You really need to read into that stuff.
