I'd like to create tutorial videos about python programming on youtube. Will youtube monetize me with this type of content?

Hell yeah. Everything that you upload anf its original youtube will monetize.
Even if you post a video of a frog that you filmed yourself.
Hope this helps you.

I have my 40.000 hours of watchtime on a different video. Will this count?

Also, how many tutorials should I put out before applying for monetization?

Nah I just want to halfass it and get away with the monetization. The way it looks, buying a monetized channel might be the smarter move anyway

Well then the application depends entirely on that video. Trust me I have done so much experiments last year with youtube monetization.
If you made the video you are getting monetized. Dont delete your video bdc the watch hours wont count.

Unfortunately, If you look at tutorial videos, you can see they don't attract so many views. You should better make Udemy videos so that it would be cost effective right from the beginning.

Yea I thought I'd do this when my older content (does not get monitiized) has already reached the requirements. Just to have some legit looking content up there

Definitely, just make sure to mention your channels name at the beginning of the video and maybe at the end when you make the call to action to like, share subscribe so that the YPP reviewer has no doubts it's your channel, especially if you don't show your face on cam. You can also make a desktop wallpeper from your channels logo if you think your desktop will be seen while you screen record your tutorial. As to how many tutorials you should upload before requesting monetization, well, I'd say at least 3 videos or as many as needed until your reach the thresholds.

Tutorial videos will get your channel monetized by Youtube if you did not upload an irrelevant content before.

What do you mean by irrelecant content? Irrelevant to the tutorials? Do my tutorials have to get traffic / have to be the content that breaks the 4000h threshold?

As much as you like. All that matters is stats like views and subs. And basically anything unique goes well with YT.

I mean.. I can get unique content, no problem. But nobody is going to watch that for 4000 hours

if the tutorial is good all people will watch. If your tutorial not good then you will not make money even after 4000 watch hours.

The plan was to upload different content after I get the monetization
