Welcome!

FYI, most members here are not really crypto minded.
I know. Very strange, because there are unprecedented opportunities
in terms of IM and making money (without trading) in crypto land.

So don't be discouraged by (possible) naive or even brutal comments,
from some people who don't know what they are talking about.

It is a bit unfortunate that people on this forum who are involved in computers 99.9% of the time, do not educate themselves on crypto.

I have been around bitcoin/crypto since it was $70 a coin and have been in/out bitcoin on 4 separate occasions never profiting, but always learning.

I have been mining crypto for the past 4-5 years, once again only seriously doing it on a bigger scale with an investor for the past 1 1/2 years, still with no profits to show. That does not phase me though, since I see where crypto/blockchain tech is going. Here is a pic of my current expansion (in the process of building the 2nd rack):

I have a post waiting for moderator approval explaining why I know so much. I am assuming the picture I uploaded needs to be reviewed first before approved.

Can you post in short here about why you know so much ?

Welcome to bhw.
What do you think about Libra?
Do you think even if Facebook promises all they can about transparency they would still do their shady practices & libra won't be trusted?
Or Do you think it would change the public outlook if a huge conglomerate like Fb puts their weight behind crypto it would gain more acceptance?

Looking forward to your opinion!

Hello and welcome to this place.

Please answer what is crypto in 1-2 sentences.

My 2 sentences:
Decentralized economy that will fix a lot of the financial inequalities/issues of censorship. More importantly, helps people understand how to be their own bank.

Side note: Once people start to understand that the US dollar has only been around for 50 years (off of the gold standard) then they would realize the US dollar is a toddler and bitcoin is an infant. Which path do the people want to choose will be up to the people willing to learn and educate themselves.

I personally believe that libra will ultimately fail, to a certain extent. I believe libra is forcing the hand of countries to light a fire under their asses and learn how to adopt this technology.

My BIGGEST issue with libra is that they will have people's pictures, personal information, and now able to see their financials as well. The only somewhat benefit libra gives to this space is the user base facebook has that could propel this technology. At the end of the day I am around crypto to get away from 3rd part providers controlling everything. What's going to happen to your funds on facebook when they decide to ban your account for 7 days? Lets take control of our lives and content again.

Edit: Also, Libra is a stablecoin, pegged to a certain currency like $1 USD, so the only way to acquire more Libra would be if they come out with a dividend program of sorts where you are earning x% a year for holding it. I know for a fact they need to make $$$ off of Libra to have something to show their stock holders as well as backers of Libra, so the fees/monthly subscriptions that they will probably require through the payment of Libra could offset being an efficient crypto. HOWEVER, countries that are going through hyper-inflation will be the ones most likely to adopt Libra to hold their value and not have it diminish day by day when the central governments print more cash.

The picture consists of 5 computers on a 4 foot 5 tier metal shelf currently, with expanding to 10 computers on a 2nd shelf. I run 6-card 1080ti rigs and 12-card 1070ti rigs - Total cards: (27) 1080Ti's & (56) 1070Ti's. GPUs are used mine certain altcoins that are still ASIC resistant.

Currently mines ~$55-60 a day with the electricity cost of about $30-$40 a day.

All crypto is banned in my country to the point that having a crypto wallet can land you in jail.Barely a week ago 4 guys were prosecuted for trading bitcoin.
Crypto would be HUGE if it could be used here.

Exactly.
That doesn't feel so “decentralized” if they can block you from the system & have access to personal details. Also I read somewhere that it cannot be mined either and would be issued by Libra itself.

HOWEVER, countries that are going through hyper-inflation will be the ones most likely to adopt Libra to hold their value and not have it diminish day by day when the central governments print more cash.

I never thought about this. This would actually be the best solution for those countries.
