I've recently had to re-brand my eCommerce website and change URL (

However, with my new domain, I would like to hide my backlink profile and i had an idea whilst setting up all the 301 redirects.

Question - Would it be possible to buy a totally new domain that 301 redirects to my money site and build links to that?

In this case, the 301 domains wouldn't hold any content obviously, they would just redirect to my money site.

OR

would it it better to create new content on the 301 domains and have my own PBN

What do you guys suggest?

----

PS - if you're interested, I'd be happy to share results/data of my domain migration in a seperate thread. I feed my family based of my money site and it was a scary decision to make. So far, it has been no where near as bad as I thought.... 10 days in and we've maintained to keep page one rankings for competitive KWs.

Examples and case studies of SERPs when doing a domain migration were lacking when i was researching last month. So if its something people need, im happy to share!

I wouldn't do that.

Why don't you just block the crawlers of backlink indexes (ahrefs/moz/majesic)?

I think this is what you need.

I use shopify and unfortunately have no access to robots.txt - thats the only way i know how to do it...

How would blocking the crawlers help him to hide the links to his website???? robot.txt can only block crawlers from entering his money site.

OP, if you build links to the other domain and use 301 redirect then crawlers will see links pointing to that site but link juice will pass to your money site, this way you get the links without being noticed.

How? Blocking backlink tool’s crawlers help him to hide his links. (i didn’t say ‘block googlebot’)

How? I have a website A and I block crawlers, then I have a backlink from website B (website B belongs to somebody else and doesn't block crawlers)... ahref goes to website B and sees a link to my website A... thus competitors can use this info.

No, if you block ahrefs crawler, they cannot crawl your website. This is how we hide our PBNs.

OK, I have a link on huff post and I don't know ahref to know about it... so how do I block ahref from finding a link to my website there?

You cannot. You can only do it on your own asset. (PBN)
