Marketing tools - GUI or not?

Hey BHW ,

I am fairly new to automation in marketing. I noticed that the bots used to automate social media and some of the SEO tools are all built for windows and are heavenly focused on the interface.

I think that this is a waist of time for the programmer and it makes it very expensive both to develop the tools and host it. Because you will need a windows VPS which is more expensive than lunix alternates and require more ram and cpu power.

Those tools will be less costly if developers where to focus on the functionality only and release command line tools that are compatible to work on lunix environment. I don't think it will need a huge learning curve for the marketers to use those tools if the tool has a good UI and simplified commands.

What do you think? should we have more tools that are comparable with lunix hosting?

The difference between gui apps and command line apps is one is created to sell to the masses to abuse and get banned (gui) while the other is made to get work done and circumvent things on the fly (cli).

Yep I totally agree, but those tools on github are built buy hobbits and are not relatable. If you take instagram automation for example the leading bot is Jarvee and it is using the mobile api for automation. By comparison the tools on github get less updates and are not created for mass automation (https://github.com/instagrambot). i.e. it is good for the average user, but not for marketers.

No I am not trying to sell a software. It is just something that I would like seeing so I thought I will see what other ppl think.

Depends on the bot, a web based GUI is perfect. If you are planning to make such a bot, web based, make sure that it can only be used with proxies. Also, users might pull back, from those things, if you are new. As a end user you want to be in control of your campaigns, secrets, etc.

Yep I agree it is all about control. Users need to have full control over their accounts, proxies and the way they configure the settings
