Site developer redirected all my traffic?

Everyone that was making less money than they should've been making; Youtubers, Discord Sponsors, Partner Sites, agree he didn't deserve 15% of that because I had to fund other stuff with the huge amounts his 15% was amounting to. Another developer can throw together a WP site and my sponsors will still sponsor it, it's not about "half the profit".

Please read your last two lines Stelios, then read the part I keep pointing out that people are missing.

`I offered to lower his percentage & give him a flat fee right there, I offered to buy it out, I offered to work out something so he took the whole 100%. And I'm totally wrong`

I didn't try screwing him I asked him to lower his percentage and he redirected all of MY traffic, fair enough he made a site but damn he shouldn't have been on 5 figures a month for making a decent enough site. The 5 figures could've gone to anything to build our name up more, as we had planned.

I offered to lower his percentage & give him a flat fee right there, I offered to buy it out, I offered to work out something so he took the whole 100%. And I'm totally wrong

You are indeed wrong.
If you did not want a partner with that percentage, then you should of never offered it.
It does sound like what you tried to do was screw him out of the original agreement.

Do you understand that an offer is not a deal? Obviously he is gonna decline the offer, because i bet you lowballed him since i see you constantly devalueing his work.

All in all, better luck next time bud. You might be good at marketing but you lack ethical values and people will fuck you over that especially when you endanger their profits, unless you are mark fucking berg.

I might've misunderstood something, but what's going on in this thread? OP is getting absolute shit on, by members on Blackhatworld. The irony is strong in this thread, I mean, we're doing fake CPA lockers and all types of shady shit here, but when he wants to change the 15% fee because it's getting too high, he's a horrible person? :D

I can't even see why a web developer should get 15% of the monthly profits in the first place, I would just pay for the development upfront and have it done and over with.

Well, if his site hit $50k month, should the developer still get 15%? Doesn't make sense to me. On the other hand, I guess that's the amount they agreed on beforehand - But does that mean he can't discuss a new fee if the site is starting to make more money? If there was no contract, what's the problem? I must have missed something. I would personally never pay a developer 2k a month to create a site.

@CPANathan , I bet you could get the site made for the price of 1-2 month(s) of the 15% fee max, instead of paying that each and every month for no reason.
i don't think op is being attacked here.i really think there is more to this story than op is actually reveling and its obvious from his post combined.

I guess you never thought the site would make up to what it's making now but luckily it made it, Then, you thought your developer whom you agreed to pay 15% to is getting more money than he deserve. ?
I guess you agreed to give him the 15% in the first place because you didn't want to pay for the job from the start.
I'm a dev as well and i'm pretty sure you made the offer to him so you should have stick to the plan.
You trying to talk him into lowering his 15% rate makes you a greedy person. Agreement is Agreement.
I would have done the same to you as well .. :smirk:. No hard feelings.

I'm just gonna leave you with the typical shady person's "What have I done to be shady" as I'm tired of trying to reason
Correct me if I'm wrong, but you dids sell a site and after you sold it, 75% of the traffic was removed right? That's pretty scummy, though I don't care since this is BHW. You did brag about it though which made it like 10x worse

No, I sold a site and the traffic dropped because I don't see a reason in sponsoring something that isn't mine. He's building the traffic back up and has already earned what he's spent.

You gonna fund something you sold?

Edit: I respect that you actually did a bit of research before putting me on blast

What you misunderstood is that he is just a "developer". He is not just a dev - he is business partner (A CTO in professional language). When OP started the site - the dev took bigger risk by building the idea. FB first CTO was Dustin Moskovitz and his current share is still 2.34% (Even he is out of fb CTO position now).

Keep the domains. Always.

in ventures like this, the only safe cart is to own the domain. If the dev runs, just have smll backup script so you wont throw away traffic.

Offering to lower his percentage and give him a flat fee obviously wasn't a very good deal for him or he would have accepted it.
It seems like you're failing to understand that he has no obligation to accept renegotiated terms.
Offering him less money IS cutting him out of the deal, in a legitimate legal sense.
This isn't even open to opinion. It's how the laws work in practically every country.

Oh yes, giving him offers to lower his percentage is cutting him out. I could've just not sent him payments, that would be cutting him out of a deal. Read what I've been posting on the end of things, his 15% became 100% and I'm cutting him

Ok guys let's settle this.

OP is a little shady for trying to renegotiate a contract between him and his CTO. I think most here agree to this.
BUT that doesn't give the CTO a green light to take the website and run. Because that is even more shady. He could have just said "sorry, not sorry but no renegotiation". But that would leave him only with the 15%, now he has 100%.
When greed meets greed :D

Do you not understand how a business agreement works?
In such an agreement, if you cannot fund his payments, you would be required to either cut operating expenses, or cut YOUR profits in order to fund his agreed upon payments. That's a requirement as part of the agreement.

Additionally, in order for it to be an 'offer' there has to be room for him to say no, and remain in his original position.
It definitely sounds like his options were:
1. Accept your offer.
2. Back out of the deal.
Where is the option for him to keep his 15% income which was part of the original agreement?
It's not an 'offer', if it's forced upon him.

Clearly he chose #2.

Missed the whole point in lowering his percentage too though, you're on the right track but paying for sponsors, stocking what's being rewarded and running everything was on my part. It's not that I wanted more money it's that the site was costing more to run and his 15% was starting to cutt into it

Bro, you wanna hear the fucking truth, you are changing the terms of agreement you had with the developer initially, by telling him you will offer him a flat fee. Okay do the math yha self..

Assuming you make $100 in the first month

15% of $100 is $15
$15 flat fee is $15

What if you make $200 the second month

15% of $200 will be $30
$15 flat fee will still be $15.

So instead of him getting $30 the second month he will still be getting $15 no matter how much you make.

Atleast the dude isn't dump.

If I were the developer, I won't take any change in the agreement without firstly informing me. I will even make sure you don't notice am redirecting the traffic, by making sure I cloned the website as I will have in the new one.
