Hey all,

I've been recently researching all the facets of Facebook advertising and trying to find ways of working with the Facebook algorithm to get great results to no avail.

An acquaintance of mine recently shared some of their ad results and it blew my mind. They would spend $5 on an ad and it would reach anywhere from 800K to 1mill people (TARGETED). I'm talking top tier countries (US, UK, CA, etc). The engagement on them is something you would normally see on a viral video (but it was a simple ad for a music artist brand). I asked them how they got these types of results with such a small ad spend.

Apparently they use some algorithmic software, crawl bot, something idk to go through a Facebook page's actual source code and find your Facebook algorithm ranking and use the knowledge from that back end analysis to crush it with ads.

Does anyone know of such a tactic or where I could learn more about this? I've never seen an ad spend with that much reach and engagement before but they showed me at least 9 results from ad campaigns and their process seems to work like charm.

I'm far from a Facebook ad guru, but based on my ads it looks like the more people like your ad, the more it shows and the cheaper it becomes.
I made an ad for some nice art a few days ago, with $3.50 I reached 100,672 people in the USA (new jersey). On the other hand I had to boost a boring ad for an event, and with $50 I reached 11,456 people.

From what I understood, there is an aspect to it which is the bid, so it's not an exact science. It just looks like more relevant/appreciated ads get some sort of priority somehow.

Lol... there so much to this that is off lol, but I will humor just a few of the points

firstly it’s your fanpage quality score not ranking. and that’s based off of certain internal metrics that Facebook doesn’t publicly display. So if they are crawling it, it’s based on the page engagement (likes , comments, share) typical metrics that anybody can analyze and there are tons of softwares out there which can do it.

So nothing unique or proprietary about that. Most marketers do this to their competitors fanpage Which can be used as an interests. To figure out which content works the best against that audience. Again nothing unique or proprietary. Just giving the audience. What they resonate to

Secondly while it does hold a little substance in the ad auction. It’s not that major, the auction itself is built off different principals and it’s own internal algorithm ranking structure. business manager account quality score, ad manager age and quality score, spend based on (x) period of time. whether Business manager is whitelisted, whether the account Has a rep etc..

There is so much to this but in reality $5 adspend per day will have to be compounded over many multiple adsets to have any meaningful impact to obtain that reach on the campaigns, even with the right “ viral” settings ( organic sharing & engagement) . Facebook is running out of ad inventory, hence why they are pushing groups to open up more ad inventory, ad prices are going up substantially because of this.

at the end of the day, they can only be crawling the competitors pages which are listed as an interest and creating content that resonate with the audience. Even then they still won’t be able to reach 1mill with that minor adspend unless it’s compounded over many multiple adsets.

I appreciate your insight into this. All of the information you just provided definitely has been something I have thought about before and what could possibly be the cause of their crazy results from such little ad spend but from what I understand from my conversation with them, they simply run some sort of algorithmic analysis on the page source and find the ranking/metric and base everything off of that. @Glomar Noah... they definitely don’t told you the whole story. Like inumel already explained, based on the metrics released from Facebook you can do your predictions. I think they made a script for this task, which is very helpful.
But no way that an Facebook employee can reach the source code! Facebook always leave you 1 eye blind, they will never give 1 employe that much power.

The reason for the tremendous reach is most likely because they had promoted a well known band or concert, otherwise you can’t have results with only $5

I have no doubt someone like Kim Kardashian can make random posts, spend $5 and reach 10 million people.

That doesn't mean its normal or that you'd be able to do the same - unless you were a celebrity influencer too.

Do you understand the implications of them having access to a “source code “ of a multi billion dollar company that’s one of the largest in the world whose revenue eclipse some minor countries in the world... just to run $5 ads for bands or artist? I don’t tell complete strangers on the internet this often but trust me on this one they don’t have access to any of the “source code.” Here’s why Facebook is massive platform but it’s broken into 2 parts both with their own “source code.” General side ( profiles , fanpage, messenger) & Auction side(where you pay to run traffic)

what they are doing on the general side of scanning fanpage’s quality score metrics anybody can do and as previously stated there are softwares out there.

the second platform is the auction itself which has its own source code, if you ever ran ads before haven’t you notice if you ever have a problem with your ad account none of the customer support can do anything to help, they have to send a mysterious email to a internal invisible group called compliance *which I call the ( Illuminati)* this group environment is completely cut off from the world and even Facebook own employee’s don’t know who they are.

want to hear something even more crazy this group location is not even on their compound ( Silicon valley,) its off-site in some undisclosed location/country. The reason why I am mentioning this is simple no employee who works at their 1 Hacker Way in Menlo Park, location has any access to that source code... none not one, it’s cut off from world for a reason to prevent intrusion and hacking or any employee’s being corrupt enough to give access to their source code to a group of people to run $5 ads for celebrities artist or bands.

And let’s take it a step further if they have access to the holy grail of auction platform source code why would they tell you? They could be sued from here to infinity and beyond, you are pretty much saying they are essentially committing a loose form of “corporate espionage” which is an punishable offense lol.

They aren’t telling you the truth and I would be very careful how You word things my friend in a Open forum, which has been proven that employees from all the major brands read or scan everyday.

TO REITERATE, They never said they had that kind of access, I only was saying that was my guess due to the results cause I couldn't think of any other way. But thank you for clearing all of that up, I'll have to check out some analysis software.

Wow! That's way beyond impossibility.. 1M for just $5 is none other than fake stat. The least I did for CPC is $0.02 and that's it.. Not to mentioned this is for general niche.

Not if you're someone like Kim Kardashian ... they don't really need to spend that much money to make their stuff go viral.

If someone like that has like 10 million fans, and they spend $5 to share it with I dunno like 1000 people... and like 50% of them either share and like... then there's no reason why they couldn't get those types of stats. But your average person's fan page is not going to be able to replicate those stats.
