I have managed to secure a link on this site (not this specific blog post, but another one) How good is this link? it looks like they host their blog on a sub domain so I assume im not getting that much link juice from this. The link I got was not on a fresh article, it was on a aged one.

Yeah, you got a pretty good link. Be careful of paying for links since Google is getting pretty damn smart about sponsored content and UGC. They even added new link metas for them.
