Can Cryptocurrency Replace Central Banks?

lol no.
volatility would destroy economies in the blink of an eye.

No crypto prices change to much. For a currency to be viable it must be stable.

It could happen but definitely not during our lifetime. The whole cryptocurrency world is something very new to our modern-day society. Even if anything close to that would happen - the elite would organize a war against the crypto world, either it would be a cyberwar or something else.

I know that there is a load of crypto enthusiasts that don't care as much about the whole "money-making" part as they do about the actual meaning of cryptocurrencies and their mission.

But let's be real for a moment, the average life-span is around 70 years, right? You're most likely 20 already. Just use crypto to your advantage, don't worry about shit you can not control, don't get mixed up into these huge discussions because at the end of the day you won't be able to change a thing alone.

Invest, HODL, stake, trade - whatever it takes, just keep on making money and let the elite of the cryptocurrency world take care of the big questions like yours in the title.

Somebody else gets it. Nice.

In futuristic terms, If they can tax crypto. Fiat is already digital, but with crypto there are brokers between transactions, which defeated the purpose of crypto.

Not the way it is, but if it the GOVS will put their tongue in it(regulate), for sure it can be a competitor to Central Banks.

judging by the comments no1 actually read the article... what shame

Only the crypto that is backed by gold or by something valuable will prevent the volatility. Gold itself is "the money" as it proves itself throughout thousands of years of human history - only recently that gold is prevented to be used as money by those who designed the bogus fiat money. As long as people recognize that cryptos can only function as a currency, not as money, it stands a chance to replace central banks. But again, those bankers with the support of their governments around the world wouldn't allow that to happen easily. They'd probably come up with their own crypto (or one global currency) and make it legal tender as a way to fight and get rid of all those cryptos out there eventually.

Volatility is not inherent in all cryptocurencies.

Yeah, it's not inherent to cryptocurencies which are pegged to something that has relatively way more stable value like some fiat or gold or other stable stock, so what's the difference of having that instead of digital fiat?
