It's Google's Broad Core Algo Update for Sept 2019

Many of my clients are reporting that the shiny stars below their posts on google are gone, anyone else faced this?

Even if Google is very cautious about the exact causes and the procedure for the core updates, it can be assumed that Google's trust in the content of domains will be reassessed with this core update.

A lot of health and travel related websites are affected.

Same here, still no difference except the normal +-1 spot change here and there. Can't see anything at all, on any sites.

Same here.

The "Google employee" Bil Lambert @ SERoundTable says the update will begin to become noticeable between 26/27.

He's been able to predict all major updates a few days in advance, without fail, so I'd say he's pretty reliable.

Some quotes:
"Your poll is too early, like I said, wait for the 26th/27th. In fact going by meetings today this will still be up in the air until next week."

"A I explained, prior to an update you will see traffic & metrics like you are used to. This is because while the core algo is updated the various "filters" designed to take your traffic away are not live. While the update rolls you will see flux. Post update you will see traffic levels around where they were prior to the update BUT these will slowly drop away. We are still in filter drop mode. Geo targeting will be out for the next few days too (as it was last week with the test)."

Interesting quote.

Seems to me like they're fixing something, don't you think?

What I noticed since june: if you stray off from mainstream results, you get random shit. For example, you can call loudspeakers speakers too. So I searched for specific speakers for my stereo, the speaker name is weird, I got all sorts of shit, photos of chinese women and Nancy Pelosi cuz she's the speaker of the house....

This has been getting real bad. I got a client in EU who wrote me an email saying he was getting Altavista results (I work for him since the Altavista days).

Perhaps this update is a fix. I think they got spidering and indexing issues.

Went from 4 to 37 in a matter of hours.
Thanks, Google!

My ranking is dropped. Can anyone suggest me, what should I do next to get back my ranking?

Hang in there. Going down before an update can be good news as I mentioned before. It's their fuzzying algorithm.

Traffic increased by 30% so far, but it's been fluctuating for the last 2 weeks.

Normal fluctuations. The 30% increase was on a low traffic, correct?

yes mine too from health websites

Let’s hope it comes back.

They're not coming back. Google announced they removed all self-included stars and are penalizing such reviews.

Looks like they're targeting specific niches in each update. Last update they hit financials and cryptocurrency. See the CCN issue, they got totally rekt.

But I think this update is a fix to whatever they did in june/august. They have issues for sure, especially spidering and indexing issues.

@bartosimpsonio most of my clients use schemapro in Wordpress and have put user ratings to get the stars, are you suggesting I switch that option off for them? Then what would you suggest me to put in the review button of schema?

Google give us a break! No changes in SERPs for my websites so far though

I would go ahead and turn it off. I've been reading that it won't affect anything but it's Google... better safe than sorry.

It’s the time again boys

I agree, I also think they hit different niches in each update. The one before crypto was health right?

I noticed that a lot of you guys had your review schema removed? Mine is still showing.. Hope it won't be removed, it's nice for CTR.

The review stars are no longer showing unless users can leave uncensored reviews directly on the site. So if you are just showing TripAdvisor reviews on your site, or if you just added some random reviews to your site and there is no vehicle for a user to actually directly leave a review, the stars will no longer show.

Already took them down I don’t trust google at all

I'm in the early stages of building a health website (5 months old). I don't have hardly any organic traffic yet. I do, however, have sufficient social media traffic that I qualified for Ezoic ads starting this month. As an "industry leader" in my niche (radiology), I hope to see some positive changes. Part of my quest for building this site was to debunk all the BS that is put out on the internet by non-medical sites and of course, they rank #1 on the SERPs. I'm hoping all that starts to change. They don't even use the proper words when discussing things for Pete's sake. Anyway, curious to see if organic doors finally start to open for me.

Mine is also still showing. Anyway it seems like a lot of you guys have it removed even if it’s star review for other products. I’ll switch on the user star review option and see what will happen.
