Hello everyone,
Just recently,I bought a domain name from Godaddy.Okay. Fine,I'm new to the domain name/blogging things. It was a promo offer of $0.99,although I ended up buying it at the price of $0.12(domain name only) along with one year hosting with the same ''Almighty'' Godaddy people.
But dude,I made a mistake somewhere. When I was to make the purchase for the domain name,I saw an option in the Checkout page that included a payment for SSL/TLS certificate(about $5.99).I just ignored it. Actually,I wanted to save money and I thought the payment for the SSL/TLS certificate would be a waste of money.I didn't know it was the case of penny wise, pounds foolish.
I was wrong. Just finished installing WordPress for that domain, and men....okay,let me type my domain URL into my browser to see how it goes...Oooops,.....Hhuuush.....ASAP. It was telling me ''Not Secure''. You see, because I didn't buy the SSL/TLS certificate,my blog is termed ''Not Secure''.That means my visitors and potential customers cannot trust my blog contents, and you and I know harmful that could be to any IM business.
Now I went back to Godaddy to see if I could buy the SSL/TLS certificate, and yupp Godaddy says SSL/TLS is $79.99. Too bad. Not their fault. This was something that was offered to me for $5.99 on a platter of gold, and I foolishly refused it.
Of course,I must buy it whether I like it or not for my blog/domain to be SECURED(both for myself and for my visitors/potential customers).
A good lesson learnt the hard way!
Newbies out here,be aware.Seek good information and always ask questions whenever you are confused before launching out. Information is key.
Thank you for taking out your time precious time to read this.
Goodluck.
