Mine was a TRS80 from Radio shack. I remember I saved my allowance for months to get it. I think it was $110! lol. There was no Operating System, just a prompt and you had to put codes in for an hour (or several) to make it do ANYthing.
For those who have been there.. remember "syntax error"?? I think I could have beaten it to death had I not been such a nerd. Thank goodness Atari, Zelda and Super Mario brothers saved me .
huh.. and we complain today that these things are too slow. I have a new found appreciation for my desktop.

Me started with a VIC-20 too, but the good times started with an Amiga 1000...

Ha. No, just kidding. It was a Commodore 64 - my father's.
It could ...uh ... sit there and you could ..uh ... look at it.
My first computer was a Toshiba Satellite A 60 laptop
Was stolen during a home break-in. God I miss it.
Still the best puter I've ever owned.
Then I had a Compaq laptop ...which got stolen out of my car.
My friends and I had just done a major search for snuff photos
cuz the internet was fairly new at the time and we just saw FACES
...were amazed at how much stuff there was .... ( after having looked
at all 7,902,385 nude photos online at that time ) and we
got intrigued by the "dead body" photos
... so whoever got it and looked in it ( was not password protected )
probably shit themselves solid. LOL
I can just imagine them looing in a compute they just stole
and seeing deeds done by the Mob ( brutal slayings )
and being like
"HOLY F**K I HOPE HE DOESNT KNOW WHO TOOK HIS LAPTOP! - HE'S CRAZY!"
Makes the theft much easier to deal with...them sleeping with one eye open.

Mine was an IBM Compatible 386. DOS 5.0 Windows 3.1. I remember playing with driver files to get sound to work when playing Maniac Mansion. Ahh the days of Lucas Arts adventure games where you could die.

Compaq Presario CDS 522. SX 66 Mhz, 4MB RAM, 270 MB HD. 4X CD. This was year of 1993
And this time it was 4 MB RAM for 200$ .. so letting you know.

My first computer was a Timex Sinclair when I was 9, then a Vic20 then a C=64 then I got a c=128 with 8 1541 drives and a lt. kernel HD.. then I added a 1200 Baud modem and ran a BBS for about 4 yrs. I was one of those elite-crackers

My first computer was a Commodore VIC 20. About a year later, I got a C64 and had that until about 1988 and got an Amiga 500.
Anyone remember Crackerjack? He used to sell "Cracks" for software so you could "back up" your software.
Loved my Amiga. I thought Test Drive was the most incredible game in the world...cutting edge graphics back in the day.
I did some coding on my C64, but never did any on the Amiga.

Now using a HP....
when i was in third grade i had the choice between a metal detector or a computer for my birthday. i picked the computer and my dad built me a pentium 150mhz with 80mb ram and the rest is history...although sometimes i wonder if i would have been a famous treasure hunting adventurer if i chose the metal detector..................
