Client Just Dropped a Bombshell. . . a good one!

I wasn't sure if I should post this in WH or BH

I have a couple of clients that I do SEO for. I know this might sound a little crazy, but one of my clients just walked into my office and told me that he has to dump some money. Made too much money this year, and needs to get some of it off the books.

He just offered me 10K to turn his seo up a notch or 2. He wants results, not just rankings. If a client gave you 10K. . . how would you spend it to get him the best bang for his buck? My first thought is adwords, but i'm also thinking xrumer, lfe, etc. . .Of course some of that has to be PROFIT, so how would you spend 5-6K?

I certainly wouldn't blast his white hat website. . . However, I could blast web 2.0 properties and other sites that link to him. My tag may say newbie, but I wasn't born yesterday.

He is actually looking for quick results, so I can't just ignore adwords. We already have a ton of web 2.0 and high authority domains (articles, videos, forum comments, etc. )pointing to the site. He just want's to ratchet it up even further. I build this website from the ground up. Every link is a direct result of my work. I'm not going to do anything I think will jeopardize his website.

Yes. They have an ecommerce store. I guess what i'm looking for is the "outside the box" type of campaign. We've done tons of WH stuff, and some grey. I don't really want to get into black.

Not sure why I hadn't though of this yet, but his site needs an affiliate program. . . . . That would be very good bang for his buck. Get other people to promote his site.

Depending on the store vertical, you cant rule out AdWords for quick sales, properly set that campaign will get the most eye balls on it and clicks right away, once again not knowing the vertical that 10k could go really fast with Google

Agree. In his market, it would go fast in adwords. We are running campaigns now, but haven't been super aggressive on the big money keywords. However, if we could convert the traffic, the profit margins are very good.

What's the CTR averaging? What's his average CPA?

Are you just running AdWords or anything on MSN or Yahoo ? cost would be lower on those two.

Depending on the vertical there might be high trafficked sites you could advertise on, dont over look certain theme networks as well....aids in higher ROI once conversions have been proven

There are a bunch of programs that you can sign up for depending again upon the site and the current revenue of the site (some high-end affiliate programs won't let you in if you haven't hit a certain revenue threshold...linkshare, CJ, etc.). The client really likes the idea of creating an affiliate program. I'm also going to hire additional v/a's and dedicate them directly to his site to continue building clean authority links. We don't have a particular affiliate provider in mind yet. Still throwing ideas around. The client is in the medical field. I'm not comfortable sharing my clients exact niche, but it is rather new, and there are no affiliate programs in the market that I'm aware of.

I definitely need to look into the content network, and searching out high traffic sites to either advertise on or gasp. . . "buy links"

Do some media buys ,get him a good media package and get his name and company out to the public ,mass advertising ,radio ,Pr . Might help depending on his company .

is there a section of c*l that would work for him? despite all the hype and controversy there's still a lot of opportunity there. step up those campaigns if you already do it or go into other sections even if they're indirectly related and convert the calls...

oh, is this only ecommerce? if so, you could still drive traffic like this too
