Hi guys I have a account I am manually growing and I am getting decent results but the growth is not very fast.

In two months time:

700->1100 followers
Avg 25%-50% engagement per post
Topping smaller hashtag sometimes (but didn't stay there for more than a few days)
Daily follow/unfollow of 20-30 people
Never got on explore
Featured by larger repost pages a few times and got some followers there

Obviously growing pretty well and my posts get 400-2000 likes each with around 50 comments, but would like to see if there's ways to accelerate the growth.

I can do f/uf at a higher rate but that is still very linear.

I do around 25-30 hashtags per post and remove tags I don't top for the next posts.

On each post the stats are something like
5k reach, 6k impressions
4.5k reach from hashtag, 600-1000 from home.

This is a personal photography account so I can only post every 2 days or so. Later I can do daily and repost old content too.

I think the account is too small for engagements group to be effective? I'm not sure how to get into explore either. I have some budget to try some other tools too but didn't want to do automation on this account.

Thanks BHW

Id say you're on the right path! You seem to be getting very good engagement, I think if anything you could try and post at least once a day. I know you said that you are doing twice a week and plan to soon increase. I myself am a landscape photographer and run a few photography feature pages and am currently growing 15 travel/photography accounts. The key to that niche is consistency and quality content. Also be sure to use feature page hashtags and tag them in your photos so they notice you. Be active with the feature pages you'd like to get featured by as well they notice who shows support. Keep plugging away!;)

Thanks. How do you think those repost accounts will be if the main goal was to grow your personal account? I assume you would feature yourself every now and then to drive discovery? I was running a few with GramMT but stopped since the recent changes got me a lot of action block.

Does posting more often help with the follow rate? Even on a post with 1500-2000 likes I only see 5-10 follows from it at most. Do you only post top quality photos on your own account? Those I assume do the best, but more content can be created if I also posted "b roll" type of content, like different compositions of the same location, behind the scenes, etc. I haven't done that though since I was thinking the quality of the overall feed was more important.

All those accounts are in Jarvee reposting similar content as my main page and then sending DM's to new followers to go follow my main page.... (child/mother method). I have each account set up with its own hashtag to go with its name and when I'm done with them I will just sell them and someone will get a nice travel/photography feature page is my goal. I would say yes posting more often certainly helps, your photos will be in hashtags more often and people will see your work more, but I would agree at least in the photography niche quality over quantity. I wouldn't post a b-roll just to post, maybe in the starting stages but not once you get bigger IMO.

you are using jarvee in VPS or on your own computer? and posting similar work means? taking other work and posting on your child page or just your photos posing on another account?

Yes Jarvee on VPS, I have most of the accounts just reposting similar content to mine so other photographers in the landscape niche and then 2 posting some older photos of mine, I have one larger feature page I run manually and the 15 child accts running, along with about 10 other various niche accts, mostly dog and fitness, I'm trying to grow and experiment with. Im thinking of starting a journey thread soon to detail my progress. I have just been following @IG Professor ebook methods.

I credit all the repost to proper photographers in caption, Also most captions have a variations of....

"Wonderful shot, thanks for letting us share this one
---------------
credit: username
--------------
follow: (feature account username)
-------------
(hashtags)

Just a few examples, haven't had a problem yet.

I am unfamiliar with that program, but i hear it very similar to jarvee and I think has the capability to do that. Perhaps someone else with more experience with that program will chime in.

Wow, seems like you're doing everything right.

I'm in the same boat as you trying to a grow my personal photography account. I'm at around 1600 followers right now and growing by 70-100 followers a week since I started using hashtags and doing f/uf method.

The mother/child method doesn't seem appropriate right now as it seems weird to have 'fan pages' for a main account that only has 1600 followers right? The particular photography niche/industry I'm in also seems like a pretty tight community and so I worry that it would damage my reputation.

I have GMT2 and tried it on a few "child" accounts that repost photos from explore, top hashtags, etc. It was working until lately (new updates) when everything started getting action blocked.
Was able to get 50~ followers a day on each doing f/uf and reposting but after few weeks it stopped working as well. I was doing pretty low rate too ( < 200 action per day). Didn't really try on my main account (except to unfollow ghost accounts).

I think mother/child account is a good strat if you want to build a portfolio of pages, there's a lot of those for photography if you look around (i.e. the parent will be like "travel photos of west coast" or something, and then then child ones are one for each state (which feed into the parent)).

280~400~ followers a month would bring you to like 6k~ after a year? Assume you post 2-3 times a week you will have 120+ more posts for that. What is your goal? I would like to grow to 10k by the end of the year, but seems like I need to try different methods since what we are doing is very linear.

  • Follow/Unfollow (gains followers steadily, but not scalable)
  • Making top of hashtag (easy to do but doesn't get too many followers conversion)
  • Explore (never got here but would assume it's similar conversion to hashtag, just higher exposure / more targeted)
  • Featured from larger accounts (gains a chunk of followers depending on engagement % of the page. I noticed area-type of accounts bring more followers (like the local "discover city" account featuring you is better than a general XYZ travel)).
  • Engagement groups (haven't tried this yet, but saw it's not helpful until 10k+ range)
What else am I missing? Wonder what other approach can be done to increase the speed of growth.

Have you tried paying for shoutouts? This is something I've read about but not tried.

My goal is also 10k by the end of the year.

I guess what I'm hoping is that the more the account grows, the more engagement there is and the longer the posts stay on top of hashtags. I also think that the more you grow the more desirable the account starts to look and hopefully more people follow after looking/liking one post.

No I haven't tried yet. I am not sure where to buy any relevant to my page.
I saw some repost niche pages selling them but they didn't get good engagement (20k followers but lower engagement than my own page).

Have you had luck getting onto explore?
I just made a new post today (got 2500 impressions from hashtag and topped a few in 2 hours) but no explore still. Not really understanding the algorithm behind that.

I had the same issue with the shout out thing, I don't know anyone who would do it in my niche. I doesn't seem like the type of community that would unless its a for real.

Nope, not got to the explore page yet. My impressions are are similar to yours. Again, all I can hope is that it gets easier as our accounts grow. The first 10k will be a lot harder than the second.
