Does Tumblr, Medium, & Other Profiles Affect Website SEO?

I've heard that simply having a strong web presence can have a positive influence on SEO. Is this true? I.e. if we create a profile on Tumblr, Medium, Vimeo, YouTube (not just Facebook and Twitter), and maybe publish a blog or two on those sites, will that affect SEO?

guys i have a question on tumblr pbns ..
if we have rss content on tumblr with "Source" link at the bottom , to show where content came from
and another link to our money site ..is that ok ?
like would google look down on it or its helpful ?

i am asking about rss content , trying to tweak the rss-to-tumblr script

Yes backlinks from these sites are good for SEO. Make sure to index them though
