Hey all,

for a while now I've been really close to finishing up a project i put a lot of effort into, but I'm struggling to close it up now. I think it's because I'm scared of finishing it and then seeing that it doesn't work out. I know that is stupid because if i dont finish it it fails by default :/
Any ideas on how to overcome this fear? Has anyone had something like that before?

You just focus on putting your project out, working hard to polish it & if results aren’t what you expected then it’s not the end of the world. Failure is part of the process & you should learn to love it. It’s your greatest teacher...

If you don’t fail, you don’t succeed.

I have it everyday. I fail over and over again. I can only push myself with motivational videos and reading successful case studies.

Good point here. Touched.

The fact that you recognise that there may be fear of failure means you've already got a head start.

Nothing is ever finished, is Facebook perfect? No. Is Google improving their search? Yes. The list is endless.

You're a one man band trying to create a master piece and these billion dollar companies with hundreds of thousands of talented employees are fighting fires and bug fixing every day.

Don't feel yourself in to thinking you can do by yourself what an army cannot.

Draw the line somewhere and put your damn project live.

When things don't go to plan, it's just information on what you need to change for next time. Not a failure, just something to act on.

Youre right, even if it didnt work out itd not be too too bad even though i invested a lot of time.

Thank you man, thats probably part of my problem too: perfectionism. I have a very long todo list for this project but i managed to separate it into things that must be done before release and things that could be done whenever. As I'm getting close to finishing list 1 I should probably just do it.

Thank you all for your responses, you've helped me lot :)
