What about directories/citation listing pages? We know that Google has massive knowledge to identify the difference between a blog comment and a directory snippet, but not sure to what extent they are actually separating

Personally I think that these links are worth 0, like pure GSA spammy profile blast. Not good, not bad, just a waste of time.

Links from EDUs, even in comments, can be useful as tier 3 links. Especially when they deal with gender studies.

true that and btw if you are into local seo citations is the new spam which makes me say old tactics still work like a charm!
