Dufollow link on new subreddit?

Hello, so I have read several times that links from subreddit are nofollow, there are services here that offer dufollow links from reddit. So I have created subreddit, added link to my site into the sidebar links widgets, check it and it looks dufollow? Is that normal? I have created it with about 6 months old account that has only 113 karma. Where is the catch?

Not always. OP links are nofollow too until they get enough upvotes and click-troughs, then they change to ********. Same counts for comments links. If the link really ads value to the community (gets traffic) then it is somehow changed to ******** by Reddit.

One day when I have enough time to waste, I will do some propper testing around this phenomena.

I'm using a browser plugin that checks for no-referrer, and I have never seen a no-follow link submission on reddit. Not on the new layout anyways.

Can you link me to an example of a no-follow OP link?

Are you using old reddit browser layout? It looks do follow to me on the new layout, no-follow on the old layout. The browser plugin shows it's do follow. I inspect element and it doesn't show no-follow. It shows rel no referrer. I could be missing something, just going by not seeing no-follow anywhere in the code.

Mate....... Use common sense. Check the new layout. I know the old layout shows no-follow. I said that. But that's the old layout. It's outdated. The new layout is the old thing anyone should be concerned with. Google is checking the new layout by default.

No need to be so condescending. We are just having a discussion. Clearly, this is open for discussion purely based on the fact that the old site and the new site does different things to links. If you have the time to do the research to see what the actual deal is with Reddit links, do it. I'm not arguing with you man. Stop being so aggressive.

Is it condescending to say that you should check the new layout rather than the old layout if you are going to give people information about how a website works? I really believe that is common sense. The old layout isn't important to us for SEO purposes. Google isn't even indexing those posts naturally as far as I know. They are only indexing the main posts.

End of story, the links in your own subreddit should be d0-follow from that sidebar widget, just post in your reddit daily and get it indexed.

Links on the sidebar are always d0follow, it doesn’t matter if it’s old or new layout. However it’s just another profile link if your sub is not popular, doesn’t have content or many subscribers.

Is it really? Again, I am not trying to act like some superior person here. This seems like common sense. Google crawls links. The main links are reddit . com. Old.reddit.com is a sub-domain, and I am not even sure if Google has a way to find the sub domains on their own. We can search Google.com and see what they index and what they do not index. Clearly, reddit is not actively indexing old.reddit.com pages. This is just a fact that anyone can easily check on their own.

Go to google.
Search "siteld.reddit.com" and "site:reddit.com"
Look at the results.

This isn't me being condescending, this is me giving you basic advice for how to check this stuff.

it's not about the crawler though. It's about indexing. Google is likely actively and intentionally ignoring old.reddit.com because it is duplicate content. They are only indexing under special circumstances. But for our purposes, SEO/backlinks, the new layout seems much better in every way.
