What is Differences between bounce rate and pogo sticking ?

A bounce is when somebody goes to your page and leaves without an interaction. "Pogo sticking" is when somebody searches for a keyword, clicks on your page, then clicks back to Google without an interaction.

Bounces aren't necessarily bad. It could mean that the page they clicked on satisfied their query and they left to go do something else.

Pogo sticking looks bad because because your page was didn't satisfy the searcher's query and they had to go back to the search results to find a relevant page.

They are similar but bounce rate counts the number of times a person visits a site from search results, looks at the first page and exits.pogo sticking is when they select an item from the results, look at one page then go back and select the next item in the search.

What is an interaction? WeTake says pogo sticking is when the user later opens the next result. That seems off. I can see how maybe we can measure if the user interacted (scrolled, moved mouse).

When I said interacted, I meant clicked on another link on that page, or navigated away from the page and did not immediately go back to the search results.

I do highly recommend tracking user mouse movements though. I try to get all my clients to install crazy egg or hot jar.
