Hi everyone,

I saw a very good domain name that ends with ".it" and bought it. Later I saw this ending is "Restricted to companies and individuals in the EU". Currently, these conditions do not apply to me.

Is there any chance I might have repercussions using this domain ending? For example May be held accountable through the WHOIS database?

Thanks

Of course you can still use it. And, by the way it is the Italian nation domain extension.

Thank you

Thank you. And I have another question. My domain name has the word "trump" included in it. Can I use it or is it a trademark problem?

Thanks

They could possibly ask you for id to verify you meet the requirements.

Ok thank you

You need to add your VAT number, If you don't own one, use a fake one, or a VAT number of some other company. That should work

Be very careful because if they ask for identification and you can't provide it, they will take way your domain.
Happened to me and was frustrating .. so be aware of this potential problem.
If it's just a churn & burn site than it's ok ! If you plan investing time and money in it, I wouldn't do it unless I can secure my domain with an EU name and valid correspondence address.

I have an it domain. I’m in the EU to be fair, BUT I’ve never had any issues with the domain, nor have I ever had to identify myself or prove that I live in the EU.

You don't have problems until you do :)

Regarding 2 .fr domains bought from InternetBS, this is the message I received last week :
Code:
Dear <myname>,

The registry (Afnic) failed to contact the registrant for the below domains:

    xxxxxxxx.fr
    xyxyxyxy.fr

Because of this the substantiation procedure is started and the registrant has 30 days to send documents to the registry to prove the contact details are correct.

If the supporting documents will not be sent in 30 days Afnic will block the domains for another 30 days giving another chance to the registrant send the documents. If the documents are not received by the registry in 30 days after blocking then the domain(s) will be deleted.
