Resurrecting my 7 years old website? Need Advice.

Hi, I'll get straight to the point: early in 2013 I started working on an authority site, I "wrote" 95 articles (from ~500 words to ~1000w) within a month and left them scheduled to be posted for the following months. I was mostly into other 'BHW sports' back then so I didn't really knew much about creating a great optimized website, all I needed was a good landing page and my traffic methods.

What happened next is that all I did was simply renew my domain every year and just enjoyed the small profits this site was making from a few leads every now and then of an affiliate product related to my niche. Years passed and I haven't touched it at all, no new content since 2013 so this is 6 and a half years since then.

I have never bought or done any SEO for this website, it is clean as a whistle, but some of my articles are written in potato-english, some articles are good but some are quite autistic: I used wordai turing to spin other articles and after that I was manually editing these articles with a great unique outcome, the problem is that I got lazy of doing this in the middle of the process, so about half the rest of the articles are potato-english without much manual intervention (can't find any duplicate content though and I'm not penalized)

I have recently changed the design, mobile compatible etc, fixed some issues, https and more other things, but now that I have finished this, I want to finally make this site live up to its true potential.

Here is a screenshot of traffic https://i.imgur.com/svRVsHW.png as you can see it is small numbers but the niche is targeted and very specific. Where it is with 0 I think my hosting was down while I wasn't giving a crap about it since I was doing so well with other IM methods.

The traffic is decreasing and of course it does since this site is in a coma since so many years.

I am asking for an advice about what should I do next, should I focus on building fresh new content (the right way this time) or should I first go and revise each and every article that is already posted? Change revised articles date too as of now or leave them as since 2013 even if I revise them? Should I rewrite and perhaps optimize existing content or just add more on top of this one? This website was never penalized nor does it have any kind of problems in big G's webmaster tools. I'm posting this in white hat seo subforum but I still want to ask if maybe should I also finally drop on this site some drip feed bought seo? Thank you in advance for your time reading this.

I'd definitely revise them and then either add text to say revised or updated in 2019 or republish. Depending on the niche, simply changing the date can give a decent boost to many articles.

I've use Search console to find all related keywords for each page, then improve the content inline with those that are ranking highest for the top traffic/impression pages

Find your articles that are already receiving traffic, then update and write them very well - no more spun articles!

Then delete your other articles you believe are written poorly.

Keep updating your website with articles your readers will enjoy.

Lastly, it’s 2019 have some sort of social media presence.

I'd definitely revise them and then either add text to say revised or updated in 2019 or republish. Depending on the niche, simply changing the date can give a decent boost to many articles.

Thank you for answering, I am going to revise a large % of them before starting with new content, change the published date as well; might not add the text to say it was revised since I am pretty sure nobody will give a flying duck (or maybe some will, considering it the latest up-to-date information.. hmm)

Excellent idea, this way I rewriting the article with more LSI keywords that are not only relevant but also very related to the specific page. Thanks!

Yes, no more spun articles, but you see it was actually a result of the union of AI and the brain of a hoooman ... about half the articles they are quite well written, but not so greatly optimized, lacking proper on-page seo and such. Either way, I'm done with that and I'm doing it the right now.

I am really curious how will Google react when it will see rewritten and optimized articles with better content and proper on-page seo. Perhaps I shall update right in this thread after a couple of months, will see. Thanks again!
