Noindex-ing the homepage

Hi,

I have a site where I want to rank multiple landing pages for "service in [location]".

I'm not trying to rank any service in [location] keywords for the homepage. Should I noindex the homepage? Or does that send a bad-signal to Google that my site is structured badly? Alternatively does anyone think I should try to rank some keywords for the homepage?

No! Definitely a bad signal. It should be dedicated to the "service" provided, with the location pages branching off.
