Unfortunately, I'm talking about trolling in the general sense, not the strict definitions listed in the Newbie Guide (Three Commandments).

For example, let's say that someone joins and says that they started doing XYZ only a few months earlier, and admits that they otherwise had zero experience. Shortly afterward, they start hijacking every thread asking for advice about XYZ, insisting that the provider in their signature affiliate link is the only trustworthy provider, which they have been using for many years. When others give their own advice, they are harshly attacked and called liars. In the end, the threads get shut down for being off-topic, and OP never gets any meaningful answers.

In my opinion, such actions would count as selling outside the marketplace (referring to their affiliate link signature), trolling (claiming to have experience on the topic when otherwise admitting they are new), and harassment (personal insults and attacks). Going by the multiple report rejections across multiple threads, all these actions are perfectly fine.

I'm not trying to challenge the decisions here, I'd just like clarification on what "trolling" actually is in relation to enforcement of the rules.

Hey @Stavro - I'd disagree, you are speaking about the definitions listed in the Newbie guide - specifically point 3 - Don't be a dick. Trolling takes many forms, enlightened discussions around a disagreement on a specific topic is fine. Where members of the forum start abusing fellow members, that's stepping over the line. If you can't keep calm about a topic, step away from the conversation.

"ABC is a bad company, buy frorm XYZ instead" is perfectly acceptable, while "you're getting scammed unless you use buy form the company in my signature" is unacceptable promotion/selling.
"That advice is incorrect" is perfectly acceptable, while "LIAR LIAR LIAR F***ING LIAR" is is not an enlightened discussion.

In both cases, the reports were rejected without comment.

Again, I'm not challenging these decisions, I'm just curious where "enlightened discussion" ends and where "member abuse" begins.

The OP is asking where the big marketers went... Well, when you compare BHW with other affiliate marketing forums, BHW is the only major forum that's still active and getting loads of traffic. Everyone else is either dead or comatose.

It's doing something right regardless of the presence of 'big marketers'

That's always going to be subjective, looking through the reports I can't see one from you with the content "LIAR LIAR LIAR F***ING LIAR" - but I'd say that's in the unacceptable camp and would receive a warning. That sounds like a training requirement for our end. All reports should be actioned and a reason sent to whoever reports it. I'll look into it.

It would seem like some individuals on this thread have taken doing the latter as a part-time career on BHW just to promote their signatures (one of my pet hates at the moment on here).

Some of them clearly don't value their hourly rates given the amount of time they spend doing this on here versus what they earn from it.
