Hello community,

I am the owner of music PLAYLIST (not a channel!) in YouTube platform. At the moment, it has over 3.3 milion total views (created in 2018) and currently generating over 400K monthly views (still increasing every month). Playlist content is 100% music videos. Also, views are 100% real, no bots, etc.

I think that it may be kind of a passive income for me because with smart solution it can drive a lot of quality traffic to a video, other channel, etc.

I'm wondering it is any possible way to monetize this? I am thinking about selling the top position in this playlist. Is it good deal? Maybe someone faced similar situation? Thank you for your answers.

If you have contacts in the music industry then you could easily sell slots in the playlist. Personally, I am a YouTube partner with a large channel so I would pay someone to create musical content for me that matches the playlist and have it heavily monetized in the playlist.

I've seen someone did this.
The guy inserted cartoon video which is monetized by him on popular toy reviews playlists.
He inserted 3 videos out of 10 toy review videos.

I know he's making a lot since the viewers are targeted.

It's a good idea if you're lazy or don't have enough time to create fresh music-oriented content. Pay someone to make a vid with your idea that might suit the playlist and take a look at the end results. If it works, you could scale the content

Are you talking about gaining money directly from youtube with video monetization?

Any more ideas?

Just Add your YouTube videos in between playlists and in that video you can upload ncs songs and also give a download link to your website

And by this way monetize that NCS video? Or just drive traffic to website?

First, the channel must be approved and enabled for monetization. Then you can monetize any videos. Owners of the videos will get the ad revenue share, irrespective of which playlists these videos are part of and who created these playlists.

I think you don't understand this topic

Anymore thoughts?

I would search something like "List of Local Bands in Los Angeles" or any major city, then DM them on their social media pages.
You also don't have to sell just the first spot in the playlist, since many small bands would die just to be in the periphery of an audience that large.

Just another possibility!

Good advice! Thank you.

Your idea is good but I tried something similar with selling reddit upvotes to bands at a markup and in my experience a lot of them are broke as fuck and refuse to pay for any kind of marketing, they usually believe in “being discovered” or that the music will magically gain fans on its own. But that was rock/metal bands so other genres may net you better results!

Yeah I can see that definitely happening.
I wonder if there exists any sites or networks where smaller bands already pay for marketing?
That way you can basically have another company funnel out the potentially paying customers.

What ever came of your sales? Did you just change audiences after a while?

Yeah I’m not too sure, but I think that a lot of bands are simply ignorant of marketing in general. 99% of the local bands my band plays shows with seem to think that posting on Instagram is all they need to do, and the idea of doing paid promotion is seen as being a “sellout” haha.

I haven’t done that method since Jan of this year, but I made about $150 USD that month with the method, but my Reddit accounts were being banned like crazy. I think it was due to being caught in their anti spam filters as I was using Jarvee to automate all of the accounts. So I gave up on the method and have been focusing on building my brand for my white hat business of doing session work/music composing instead. It was also a TON of prospecting and I’d say 90% of bands basically told me to fuck off haha.

I’d like to return to it as it was a decent money making method and I had quite a few repeat customers, but I have to solve the issue with the banned accounts first. It seems it’s getting worse for shadowbanning new accounts.

100% agree with this. They just sitting with a couple thousands views for years instead of investing some money to promotion in 400K monthly audience (according to my situation). Pretty strange mentality or, on the other hand, maybe we as marketers just do not communicate enough the value of our services? o_O

It seems like you are suggesting new videos added to the playlist. How would you then "monetize" those?

Yes for sure, I think if you’re a good enough salesman you could make some really good money with it. My sales skills were at a caveman level when I was first doing my method, and I still managed to make a few sales a week.

Also what genre of music is your playlist? If it’s a good fit I’m definitely interested in buying a spot for my band!
