Can someone explain this site strategy SEO?

this is some of my competitors site but i see the site can rank for high competitive keyword with just a little ref domain and backlink.

how can site rank without any backlink and without diversity i think impossible to use hide pbn into exact match kw?
maybe somebody can help me explain this

It happened to me also and in a very difficult niche - movie niche. My website ranked #1 in Bing and #1-10 for at least 50+ keywords in Google.com. I hardly had backlinks to my website then. Apart from link building I was doing a lot of things, Facebook page with 50k + fans, Twitter with 100k followers, Pinterest was just growing back then, and the main part I think what made me rank was the rss feeds part from reddit. I focused on sharing my every new uploaded movie page to different platforms for traffic and indexing, I even shared to dailymotion and other video sites with watermark. I also made some links to the inner pages though, it was very well balanced link building, I made sure that every page of the website should at least have one backlink, that did not happen completely but I ranked just by promoting to social sites and rss feeds and traffic from video websites.

You did an IFTTT social syndication network? Was it easy to set it up?

i just confused how my competitor site can rank up without backlink? if there is possible use full pbn and hide it? but how about the diversity

It is easy and we need to be very active and that needs a lot of time mate. But all the efforts paid off.

It's a manual process for you? Some of the social networks doesn't support IFTTT, so it becomes quite time consuming.

I used AddThis and other social tools also, but it was manual work mainly.
