Greetings from a recently fired crypto industry guy

Hey guys - surprised to see such an active and welcoming forum here!

A bit about myself, quit a good university to leverage my network in the crypto world to land myself a marketing job in a crypto company (ico) and kicked ass for a few years and moved to a more institutional focused crypto company. Unfortunately, I was made redundant a few months ago. Luckily I had a crypto IM side gig going so I have a good income stream to figure out my next moves. I’m currently considering moving to thailand for a bit to lower my living costs and hopefully meet some like minded people (despite I hate the whole ‘backpacker’ and ‘digital nomad entrepreneur’ meme)

I understand these forums only become great if the members give as well as take, so I’m looking forward to adding value in the near future

I seriously suggest you to Move to Thailand. Bangkok has much to give in this point. A huge city evolving and full of very incredible people, as all Asia in general. China is the next step dude

I'm actually based in HK now, but its way to expensive to live here.. Where abouts in Thailand do you suggest? I've heard some good things about Chiang Mai

Thailand is actually a great choice. So is China and South Korea tbh. All vibrant economies. It really depends on what sort of place you want to settle in. Even the central Asian states are good.

Be honest with us: The whole ICO space is filled with companies trying to fool investors with no intentions at all to deliver a functional product. The goal is to market and exit as quick as possible.
Well, this is my experience after 2 years of ICO investing.

Basically crypto is a huge scam and BTC is the only project you should invest in currently. Your opinion?

I actually don't think there are too many ICO projects that outright intended from the start to scam investors, although definitely they do exist with different levels of offense.
You should think about it more like this - a lot of ICO projects are actually a pivoting attempt by dying existing companies to try and keep the company alive - a great example of this is Kik, and their token Kin.
Kik was a huge platform but was dying off in users, and since they got in some legal trouble now all their financial situation is in public hands and its clear that ICO was a pivot attempt to keep the company alive.

In this case, would you call it a scam? I don't think so.
This kind of situation is a reality for most post-ICO companies now.

I do have high hopes though for the crypto industry (I dont trade though) in general, but not at the scope that it exists currently.. it will all boil down to a few relevant currencies, with bitcoin being at the top.
