I did some SEO work for some local guy, then we went into unwanted convo, and he asked for a refund.

He sent me $700 first before everything started (not as f&f), now I think it was withdrawn into my bank acct. and the fund is not there anymore. How do I accept the dispute? what could possibly happen?

If it’s already in your bank account then if you lose the dispute your account will dog into debt. If it’s your main account they will try get the money from a funding source. If you remove all of your cards and you refuse to pay they just close your account and sell the debt. If you do this your cards and bank accounts will be blacklisted. So take your pick

Thanks for that, We manage to work out the dispute, but what does "sell the debt" mean?

PayPal will sell the debt onto a debt collector. Ye this is a thing and is very common. Not sure how much they actually get but they will get a % of the debt and then the collector adds their fees plus the total amount of debt. Glad to heard you got it all sorted!

sorry bout this but, debt collector? what does it does? go to my house and ask me to pay?

PayPal are c#nt$, they sell the debt to a collection agency who will send you letters, meaning your shredder can get some exercise. Then any further PayPal accounts connected to you will be banned for life.

Payup or go stealth

Have had a few PayPal chargeback issues but only small. They tend to side with the buyer in most cases. I despise PayPal. They are c#nt$ of the highest order. Just look at the pr!cks who started the company, w@nker$.

I feel ya, but what if it was a stealth account? They'll still ask the person (whose name is used) to pay?

so you took 700$ - the guy maybe didnt like your work
you spent the 700$ knowing u had no balance for a refund
and u wanna avoid paying it back, guess we can avoid
anything from you with that work ethic,

When it comes to digital services especially local, you need to have a contract in play. Such as a payment agreement, Monthly retainer contract. Etc. So when issues arise with genuine disputes, you can refer to that.

Other than that if the client is dissatisfied with results, issuing a refund should not be an issue. It is a mutual understanding among st people who run digital services. Nothing is guaranteed especially with SEO and you need to be prepared for that.

Remove backlinks or other backend services take the loss in resources, and for future reference, make it clear to the client of what you are providing. This prevents issues like this from even beginning. When you are completely transparent the whole ride.

If you cant afford to take that initial loss on your back-end expenses, then you really shouldn't be in business. Not every client is going to work out or be satisfied. You should know how to deal with that.

It's not actually like that, first, I was only sort of a middleman where that guy thought it was me doing the job, but anyway,I was willing to send the refund. Anyway, We worked it out and we are all in good terms now.
