Article Spinning: How Does it Work?

I've read about Article Spinning Software, but not sure how they work. How does a programming language understand english to spin it so that the verbs for example make sense in the 'spun' version?

I think I tried one a few months ago, but I had to go through it all manually changing a verb to a similar verb and go via that route.

Also, what's the best current software to spin articles?

You basically write an article, then for each word or sentence you give it a list of synonyms. I think you understand how it works from there.

You create a dictionary, and associate words in it with each other. For example the word "testing" would possibly have the alternatives:

trying
trying out
examining
checking

So on like this, then when the spinner encounters "testing" in a document it will offer the above for the user to select (semi automatic) and simply replace testing with one of the above itself (automatic).

It's just finding the best piece of software now. Do you guys have any recommendations? I've done some searching and found:

Power Article Rewriter
Content Rewriter Pro

There seems to be quite a few to choose from so wondering if there's a clear favourite on here, as to which to use.

Yes, i've used every rewriter you could mention and this is the best in terms of output quality. It's semi-auto but this is better, when you use fully auto tools it looks like it was written by a baboon.

That sort of stuff is ok for cloaked pages which only bots see, but not fit for human consumption.

Haha, yes I was wondering how any computer language could understand English and reword it full so that it made sense.

You only have to look at online translation tools to see they are totally off the mark when they are ran.

What source are you using the spun articles for? Is it for general web content or submission to sites like AC?

I'm not sure what you mean by AC, but my current thinking is writing something like 5 web 2.0 articles which link to my website (or webpages inside my website).

For each of these 5 articles, I spin them and submit each of the 5 spun articles to article directories which all link back to the original 5 web 2.0 articles - this is to get back links to these 5 and nothing else.

I then hope this will get the 5 web 2.0 articles on the first page of Google for 5 long tailed keywords, plus giving my website more link juice.

I understand some of the more well known and Google loving web 2.0 pages, don't pass on link juice (hubpages as a new member), whereas others will get listed high (such as Squiddo), and others do both - they get listed high as well as passing on link juice.

You've got the right idea, but it will take more articles than that to accomplish what you want, depending on the keyword you are trying to rank for.

For my first project, no it isn't AdSense, it's simply to
a) Improve the ranking of my existing website - it's ranked 6th for my main keyword and I'd like it 1st or 2nd.
b) Target long tailed keywords which relate to my website. So people will find me via finding these articles.

My next project (once I've got the idea of all this), is to then start affiliates, but not quite sure myself how I'll go about it.

From what I am understanding, writing the articles serve 2 purposes:
1) They get ranked high for long tailed keywords, in Google (by having the articles at places such as Squiddo/GoArticles/Ezine etc).
2) Using these highly ranked articles then act in a way, like doorway pages to presell the website. For example - article about the history of widgets > this article then links to widgets.com which sells widgets.

With affiliates am I correct in saying the website is the 'money site' - the site that when people land on it, either go ahead and buy the product from the Merchant, or leave their email address for updates, or leave?

I think the confusing part is that on BHW there isn't just one way to skin a cat - there seems to be many valid ways of getting traffic and marketing a product - so I think where I'm going wrong, is mistakenly mixing a few methods up.
