I've just had 4 reminder emails come through from when I bought 4 domains from 2 years ago when 4 pretty much unheard of sports people were coming through the ranks, but were not at all well known. I actually forgot I snapped the domains up, as it was purely a case of "see what happens".
Anyway, all 4 of them are now playing in their field and I think 2 of those could become one of the best in the world, over the next 2-3 years.
However, they are .net extensions - unfortunately not .com
Would you stick with the domain purely as a holder, or instead set up a site about them now and create something like a fan site?
Are .net domains still as popular as they were a few years ago and easier to rank vs others apart from .com?
