Nothing really unless u are using it with our ad partners then it’s added valueI am thinking of upgrading my setup to start using GAM and Iam thinking of switching all my adsense to be served through GAM.
What is the effect on revenue when serving adsense directly on side vs serving through Google Ad manager?
Thanks

It has no effect on adsense alone, but when/if you work with other ad networks or implement direct campaigns, you'll be able to bid between those networks/advertisers which will result in higher revenue. as oppose to using adsense alone off course.I am thinking of upgrading my setup to start using GAM and Iam thinking of switching all my adsense to be served through GAM.

Does this work with the basic DFP or you need to have Ad exchange to work with other Ad networks? It has no effect on adsense alone, but when/if you work with other ad networks or implement direct campaigns, you'll be able to bid between those networks/advertisers which will result in higher revenue. as oppose to using adsense alone off course.
Yes, as per DFP's basics features you are able to bid against/between ad networks. Ad exchange or adX is just google's other(bigger, higher paying, higher quality) ad serving platform - to get in, you need s##t loads of page views(i think 5M/M) or use it via google partners such as ezoic etc.Does this work with the basic DFP or you need to have Ad exchange to work with other Ad networks?
Thanks, I have used ezoic, but I don't like how they make my site slow and lose rankings eventually. They need to work on their script. I was looking for a way of doing it on my own hence researched a lot, and I see terms I did not know before like prebid, header bidding (Maybe this is what you mean). I see it needs a lot of time and research to run your ads through DFP.Yes, as per DFP's basics features you are able to bid against/between ad networks. Who charges you, adsense or dfp?Hi mate , when u use adsence with dfp u will be charged with some amount. And best use of dfp with adsence is u can set time factor to refresh the ads in single page view
Header bidding is a bit more complicated to setup...but in both cases you can hire an ad-op guy to do the initial setup for you and learn as you go.Thanks, I have used ezoic, but I don't like how they make my site slow and lose rankings eventually. Header bidding is complicated to set up...however if you working with the right companies they will provide for free. I have header bidding on my site but my ad management company pays for it.Header bidding is a bit more complicated to setup...but in both cases you can hire an ad-op guy to do the initial setup for you and learn as you go.
I'm currently using Ezoic to avoid getting my site slower I did this:
- Moved to cloud hosting
- Using Wp rocket for cache + minify + lazy load
- Imagify to optimize images and theme + it can convert your images to webp format. (Since it's a format developed by Google it might help in rankings).
- Using cloudflare but in case you want to use a CDN to speed up your website I would suggest MaxCDN
My homepage has a total size of 1.5MB and it loads in 2 seconds approximately.

As it been stated above by others running adsense dfp only has effect when u used multiple ad companies to bid on the impression.
Most full time earning sites all are using dfp and multiple ad partners to generate revenue so bidding makes sense so each impression a new user on the site gives are fed the highest paid ads to make the publisher the most off the user which created this new term RPM (revenue per thousand users)
