Libra - White Paper (Facebook Coin)

Let's hope the media coverage of this will push the crypto market up (price and market cap wise).

I will invest 1k on it
just do it harder
Libra is stablecoin.

The price is not gonna up.

It just opened the door, for billion of un-bank or un-creditcard people to spend their money online or transfer fund globally.

Those libra company's gonna get billion/trillion of profit through fees?
If entire .net world use their service/coin instead of bank / western union?

I think this is a good news for crypto space.
But very bad news for banking and other 3'rd party such as Western Union etc

It's not crypto currency in the common sense, more like a hybrid of crypto/online wallet/credit card - unified irreversible online payment solution; no mining, no appreciation/volatility, probably pegged to USD with fixed reserves for stability, public transaction ledger & KYC banking regs. Not good for privacy.

Integrating with FB, Messenger, IG, WhatsApp and maybe some others will join so 2B+ potential user pool, could really get some traction like nothing we've seen before. I'm not quite sure exactly why Visa, Mastercard & PayPal are on board with this since it's kind of a competitor to all of them unless they're all going to be partial owners.

Shaping up to be Deep State vs. Silicon Valley vs. Dirty Financial System battle. Get out the popcorn.

Not a crypto coin.. More of a new way for online payments..

Facebook bans anyone with an opposing view to theirs, and they want to be in charge of a currency... nothing can go wrong.

The same people bitching about how slow adoption of crypto is because it isn't mainstream enough are now bitching about the strongest opportunity for crypto to go mainstream because it's "too centralized". Wah. Learn to compromise for the greater good of your currency system.
It is not even a cryptocurrency, it is just a currency

As I understand they will NOT have full control over libra. All of the investors will have minimal power. However, Facebook can choose all investors, this might subvert the system in the process. Must be very careful with libra tho.

Does anyone know the date when this coin will be launched ?

testing 4th quarter 2019
rollout mid 2020

Calibra wallet app (google it)

Initial integration will be in Whatsapp and Fb Messenger. Possible later integrations coming in Fb portal, Instagram for tipping, and web browsers.

it's still a crypto currency. They mix currency with crypto currency to make this coin.
You can see when/where/how your payment goes with blockchain, no one can change the data. But there will be no anonymous thing.

Libra is not a cryptocurrency. It does not adhere to the five pillars of cryptocurrency which define whether or not an asset is a cryptocurrency.
  • Open
  • Borderless
  • Neutral
  • Censorship-Resistant
  • Public

This guy gives good breakdown of why Libra is not a cryptocurrency
