Which sites would you love to get backlinks from? The best of the best?

Sites, like Forbes, Buzzfeed, The Guardian, Huffington Post, Vox, etc.
Would love to see your dream lists.

Any niche particular sites?

Authority sites in whichever niche my site is about.
That's where the juice is at.

Getting a link from big brands helps, not as much as what I mentioned above.

Does having an expired domain which has a link from any of these sites also seems interesting to have?
For example, usually, to get featured on Forbes it costs starting from $700+. But what if you could have an expired domain which has a backlink from Forber, which you can redirect to your site for let's say $50 or $100? Does that seem reasonable?

In my opinion I like this option. Even such kind of expired domain passes a lot of value. These can be used as pbn or redirect or even simple content rich blogs.
Create a natural looking blog on these expired domains with a lot of content. Then pass backlinks from these posts after they index.

Kevin had to close the service, but if you have the knowledge these domains are availble to buy yourself.

Forbes, NYTImes, The Guardian etc are all powerful domains to get links from.
