Starting A Web Design Business

Update:

Sold a client on hosting/maintenance services for a year at $200/month (paid annually at $2400). Was referred to a Chamber of Commerce meeting by the same client as a means to generate more business.

Damn! $200/month for maintenance? You'll definitely nail it man! Congrats for your success.. Also, want to know what's your maintenance package includes.

Good luck following, do you use only html, css and js? Or php and MySQL too?

Good luck on this journey of yours. I will be rooting for you.

Good luck man.. but erm, I didn't see any "blackhat" or even any grayhat tactics. Maybe you should think about how to use some tactics that are more intelligent?

Not saying that your ideas aren't intelligent, just a little basic and amateurish, seems like anyone can do this in the way that you have described.

When I create new company I have one rule, I have to compromise my morals a little bit. If I feel that I am not comprimising my morals in any way, then I feel that I am operating on same small level as everyone else. I need to have a feeling in my spine of some sort of danger while I am doing business. If not, then it doesn't seem right to me

Good luck to you

Thanks for all the well wishes. Things are gonna be ramping up Monday so stay tuned. The holidays and family pull be away from the project for a couples week but I'm ready to push the gas. Oddly excited about warm-calling on Monday.

Intentionally a whitehat method as this is something my name is personally attached to in a community where I live. Plus, the moneys good enough to not need to pull any trickery or tom-foolery.

Updates, Security Checks, Basic SEO, Basic Social Media Integration, Hosting, etc...

Good luck. I do believe it's quite a saturated niche. Anyways will be following this closely.

First Update

Made about 15 cold calls Monday and got one maybe. Ended up getting a job to float my living expenses between checks so I'm not cutting into profits I make from web design. Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday we're occupied by errands, prepping for my job and clearing my plate of current work that I was slightly behind on — spent last night and Today redesigning my website and updating my portfolio to give everything a more polished look. Plan to make more cold calls later today.

please let me know.
I am also thinking on getting content by client but don't know how to manage it.

Thanks!

Wish you luck buddy, Amazing to see positive tracking on your journey. Closely following as I'm on the same boat.

Good luck with this. I was thinking how you are calling them and asking if they are interested in a new site. I would almost rather leave them a message then talk to them first. Most people will just hang up on you if you are trying to sell them something PLUS they are probably busy with their business and don’t want to be bothered. If you leave a message, they will most likely listen to the whole thing and be listening to it when they are more relaxed/have free time. Good luck.
