There are so many affiliate programs and niches out their, especially niche ones which often offer better commission, more products, and greater cookie lengths compared to Amazon.

Relying on just Amazon for your site income is not a good idea, especially given their history of cutting rates.

Great article from Authority Hacker:

Combine with a plugin such as Content Egg and you can diversify income considerably whilst providing your visitors with a price comparison for the cheapest place to purchase your promoted product.

There's so many goldmines when you avoid Amazon affiliate products and go for more obscure niches. Less competition, higher payouts. Amazon and their 3% can stuff it.

You miss the best part
Amazon is well known worldwide
and they SHIP fast
the others are not so reliable and the customer tends to not buy for fear of being scammed
I only noticed this when I opened 2 affiliate sites. While Amazon gave me 6-8 sales a day, others gave me 3-5 in the whole month

Also, from the buyers perspective, Amazon are a trusted brand name, you have a problem with a product it gets returned and you're refunded quickly and easily.
I agree the commissions are pants though.

One more best fact is they pay commission for every sale you made irrespective of what product they bought, the only this is you just push the customer to Amazon through your link, rest amazon takecares!

Just said, because most of the beginers only heard for Amazon Affiliate or watched some tutorials or course for that.
So after that, they are going just to copy that tutorial on their websites.

Sometimes is better to twist that you watched and learned get some time and Google similar things and do the right choice. Clickbank is full with offers with a very high commission which sometimes can produce a lot of money. There are lot of factors and you also need a some basic funel, first to get the sale(subscription) conversion than to get the commisson.

But at the end, keep in mind that Amazon is TOP world company with a highest reputation and fasted delivery. Few months ago they investes a lot of money to cut off the delivery to 24 hours. Simply Americans love Amazon :).

Skimlinks or Viglink is good if you don't want to think too much about it.
They're great on news sites or forums.

100% I agree with both statements. However, in some niches (outdoors comes to mind) other websites offer way more products and are more specialised. They still have loads of authority and trust. Such as REI, Cabelas etc. In my niche the product offering is terrible on Amazon and not where most people in my niche would usually shop (they'd go with someone like REI).

It obvious choice to go with other options. But we hardly find which one to take? Thanks a lot for sharing it.

Yes, the commission is too little compared to others BUT Amazon has trust. Customers will buy on Amazon with blind eyes...

Mostly the usual suspects.
Link will get some traffic from BHW though.

i've tried Amazon affiliate program and it's horrible for real

they are stopping my account in 30 days from now just because i don't get sales ?????? it's not easy now a days in my opinion with Amazon affiliate program anyway

REI and Cabela's offer 5% commissions too. Seems to be the norm nowadays.

As we can see the " meathead method" from 2011 is applied by OP right here in the thread and it works great !

This!!!

Just send traffic to Amazon, stick that cookie in their browser and you're good to go.

P.S. While following their Amazon Affiliate rules of course :)

If you have a table with 5-10 products, I like to make 1-2 of them link to eBay/Walmart to drop the cookie here and there. However, like @welneto said... AZ just obliterates other large e-commerce stores like Target when it comes to CR.

Going to bump this for my man @Holzr with the latest Amazon cuts, it could help someone.
