How should I proceed?

I am interested in a very specific niche which will be hard to find even average TF of CFor DR or UR.

Would it be good idea just to buy an expired domain thats aged even if it has 0 DR + UR + TF + CF to give me a head start?.

My niche is a specific video game I play. I am going to write a blog about it and affilate some amazon products.

What would you recommend I do?

I have found domains that are my exact niche, but 0 TF, CF, DR,UR, no backlinks, but they are aged (around 2013)

Look for gaming directories, forums... Places where link/banner exchange are or were common. I bought from Punterlink a couple of great domains. Both rank first page and they were expired till 2017. I couldnt believe. The previous owner tried to sue me. LOL! A domain from 2005.

Oh **** great idea! So would I use broken link checker on the directory websites ect or go through each link manually to see if the website has expired?

Do both! Some domains are released overnight. Focus what you are looking for. For gaming, LTKW are great!
