Rent out computer/internet connection

Hi guys, hope you are all good this is my first post here on the forum, but I was a long time reader.I am wondering if this is a scam or not sounds to good to be true.

I live in Europe and I often get a request from people in china ho want to rent my computer so they can work as a freelancer/programmer.

This is very tempting, very little work for me, but it sounds too good to be true.
Anyone who is doing this and can tell me it´s not a scam? If it´s not a scam why do they have to rent a connection?

It's more likely that "upwork" profile scam. If they just want connection - they can buy proxies. Don't rent out - they can do any criminal activity and put everything upon you because traffic was from your pc/IP. Many illegal activities can be done - ddos, money laundering, credit card fraud, malware spreading etc etc.

Yup, have had multiple people ask me the same thing. For $100-$500, they are most likely doing what you have said.

We saw someone asking for opening an upwork account. I suggested to buy a vps in that location instead renting.

I had this offer happen to me about half a year ago. I was honestly really tempted to do it, but usually they ask you to verify your account (with photo ID, etc.) so all of that person's activity on Upwork can be linked to you even if you are using a VPN/VPS yourself.

So I decided it wasn't worth the risk.

LOL, this reminded me of an educational network based from Japan. What happened was they allowed random people accross the world to donate their network as a source for trying residential proxies. Later on it was abused (duh), and discontinued.
