Another Google Update on It's way

There's no need to panic really :)

I mean, sure if you've been building for failures, then it's gonna be each update the same panic for you :D

But, if you are doing something 90% right, the impact would be 10% max on your Organic. So, most of us aren't feeling the need to panic.

What's interesting to witness here is, Google announced the update for a specific day yet the SERP globally remains calm. If the storm arise today or tomorrow we will be able to conclude to a natural inertia in the deployment of such update.

Oh I could prove you 10 times wrong. 10 times where major update shifted legit websites down to push my shitty websites over them. You feel bad for people working hard on quality content sometimes..

Looks like the update has begun. Seeing good movements across all the keywords for one of my sites. No major changes yet on other sites.
Too early to comprehend. Will wait until the dust settles.

Niche - Business
Competition- High

Also, The site was hit by the medic update. Many keywords from the first page were pushed to the third and fourth page. Zero link building has done since then.

What are your stats?

Same. I saw a good movements as well. Both new and old sites.

Niche sports. High search volume. Low-med competition.

I think they are giving more importance to the site and content. Sites which were powerful but had low relevance to the search is pushed downward and sites which are relevant but less powerful sites are going upwards.

The single best thing I've ever experienced for good SEO is YouTube videos (decent quality of course). Not blogging, article spinning, buying Google ad words, indexing, backlinks etc. Anyone else?

Good SEO, as in you can rank them well? Or good SEO as in outbound links from them help other properties to rank?

And they spend huge fucking amounts of money for this. I'm not blaming them though because it's a fucking hard challenge to understand content well enough to actually pick the right site for this snippet. But given all the AI hype that currently exists one should not forget that fucking Google with billions of dollars still not does better than that. In their main language. Have a look at foreign serps and it's even worse.

About the update: I've not monitored my sites close enough in the past few days to jump to any conclusion what happened on my end but I'm not really concerned. In the end, as many sites will benefit as will be hit. The amount of spots in the serps stays the same.

Sure man you can prove me wrong by adding a bigger line against and smaller one - and I don't disagree. But the loss of traffic isn't 50%-70% of the traffic for legit sites. I am sure in rare cases it would be, but for majority of legit sites it won't be. If you are talking about sites that gets 1000/month in traffic, well, the game of probability implies they're going to suffer with each update- they still can run ads and keep acquire sales till they recover :)

But for sites that gets multi-thousands or millions in traffic (mine does millions), we see 10% up and down. With CNET being an exception this time(their traffic spiked 100% to 70M/month), most just prepare to fight harder

-20% traffic on one of my sites today. lets look further , maybe it is just a coincidance

Panda, Penguin, Pigeon, Fred, RankBrain, etc. are the indicator to clean up thin content results.
Hope, they will be gainer who works hard and invest properly.
Let's see what Google does now! It seems like that Exam results will be published soon! :P

Cant find much info on this online, anyone seen any discussion of how this will affect seo's online?

I can see people saying seo is dead but i can say its immortal .....
I agree Things may change but not completely there will be just change in method i feel

For those who want a non-search engine, and non-social media based alternative means of getting targeted traffic, there's always this classic thread on how to use Alexa and Quantcast to derive vistors directly:
