How to send message into inbox on Facebook

Greetings everyone!

I have my Facebook account and I'd like to send a message to a friend of mine, he is not a mutual friend but an old friend. The problem is the message I am sending to him goes to "Other folder" and the status of the message is "SENT" not delivered. Is there a way to work around this?

Did you even read what I wrote? I know how to send a PM but it is being filtered as "SPAM" and going to the other folder. This is pretty normal on FB if you aren't connected to that person's friends this happens. Any workarounds to this? Note that it is not marketing account and messages being sent are simple everyday messages.

if they are an old Friend just Request them as a friend and send the message?

I don't think there is is anything you can do from your end, probably they have ignored your previous messages as well or you are not in the friend list that is the reason its going on spam. Try to post on their wall or comment and let them know about messages, once they reply, it should be good to go then.
