Very low engagement

Hi guys. I have an Instagram page with 16.6k followers.
The page grew with two methods:
1. Main one is follow\unfollow with targeted people
2. Organic growth because I was hitting the explore page a lot

The thing is, all of my engagement comes from hashtags. I feel like I actually have 300 followers.
I posted a story a few days ago and it only got like 140 views!

I really want to fix this account. I guess I'm not shadowbanned because I still hit the explore page but 90%+ of the engagement is not even my followers. Would love to know what you guys think and how can I fix it, thanks!

I didn't try any posts without hashtags.
But each post of mine has 1k-2k impressions only from the home page

I already tried to stop and just posted, it didn't work...
It seems like my account is dead to all of my followers (posts don't show, stories don't show) and I have no idea what to do. never had this problem

Sometimes you need to stop and wait longer to get your engagement back, and there is no faster solution.

If you spot botting and started right away after the rest it will not help you account.
You need to wait at least a week, 2 weeks
During these times use your account as a normal user, like, views stories, comment, post etc.
Gradually your account will be trustworthy in ig eyes and your post will reach more ppl.

Every action is counted. For example if you clients reply to your posts and you don''t like it : you are not engage with your audience = Punishment by IG
You got a DM and not replied? = Not engage : Punishment

This is the reason for your low engagement and it's completely normal, if you rely alot of techniques for reaching explore. Once it's stop feeding you, your engagement will go down to the drain.

It's only good to rely on getting viral/explore page if you know how to keep it consistently. Else I'd suggest you restart the account by removing inactive followers.

Yeah I don't like relying on hitting the explore page, I want to build an audience that engages and follows my page consistently.
But once again I'd love to know how can I remove inactive followers?

I just read that Instagram keeps changing their algorithm so posts are basically disappearing, or missing a good chunk of followers. But if you say that all of your posts are reaching a thousand people and you’re getting only 140 likes despite having 300 followers, maybe the problem is in your content. Figure out which of your posts has received the best response and try to replicate that success. But avoid being repetitive, that’s probably not a good idea either. Or, ultimately, you could also try to sponsor your posts to make sure that they’re reaching everyone you want them to reach.

Well, then I’m completely stumped. If your posts were reaching the explore page, then you probably aren’t being pushed aside by the algorithm. Or maybe the algorithm is getting your posts on the explore page, but hiding them from your followers? I hope it gets resolved quickly, just the same.

Basically when it first reached 1k followers the stories went gradually up to 300 views and stuck there forever (on rare occasions went up to max 500 views). Now that the account has 14k followers stories are viewed by 150 max. It’s ridiculous!


Average likes on post now is 300 some times 400. Previously (with fewer followers) it was 500-600 and even 900-1000 on some posts.


Never hit explore, also reach from home is insanely low.


I don’t know what went wrong, but stories reach is just absurd.


I’ve stopped using the account for a couple of weeks, Instagram started sending emails to get back on Instagram because I was missing way too much. I’ll wait few more weeks and see when i log back in how it’s going to perform.

That sucks man, especially when you don't know the reason for it lol.
I will take a break from botting the account for 1 week and see how it goes

My stance on this is that youtubers typically have high engagement rates because their audience feels like they know them from videos. Whereas with the follow unfollow method these people dont have connections to you. So my advice is to make videos in your stories to engage with your audience.
