Dedicated Servers For Ecomm

Do i seriously need a dedicated server for my ecomm website-
we have only 150 products and website is new , my hosting provider is suggesting me to buy a dedicated server instead of shared hosting what are your views what should i take.

no you dont, you can start with shared hosting and dedicated IP,
Sometimes its the requirement of your payment gateways but it depends.

As i said earlier, sometimes it is required by payment gateways to have an ssl which could not be installed on shared IP.
That is why. Its absolutely optional

okay thanks so if i host my website on shared hosting and then if the traffic increased and i choose to shift to dedicated server will there be any data loss while migrating?

no, there will not be any data loss. Most of the site transfers are pretty easy now a days with no downtime and no loss.

Would be nice to tell us which provider advised you to move from shared to dedicated ?

There are also other options like VPS for example..

If the site is new, shared is fine. Then later you can upgrade to vps/dedicated if the traffic increase.
