Out of total curiosity, as I seem to be getting mixed answers on the tinterweb,

When starting a new site, whats your experience with linking? Do you grab as many as you can, or do you set limits per day/per week?

It's like you asking how many calories to take per day. But nobody knows your body, even after sharing details, better than you. Same applies on your domain. That's one thing.

Second, what would Google love more? To index bunch of do follow links in a day, and then watch your domain being idle for a while, or indexing more separately would be better?

How about youtube video? Would you like 1k viewers in 15min, and then no viewers, or 1k within 24h time frame.
Obviously, your video will get more visibility if views are more constant.

On the end, you knew all this, but it's ok to ask.

So, overall: take care to submit a few (or you know it better) do-follow daily, and let it index naturally.

There is no limits. Its about being "natural" growth in the "eyes" of Google. Websites got viral and receive thousands of links per week. Last year tons of crypto sites attracted a fuckton of links from all kinds of websites, like literally a thousands of links per month and ranked just fine.

Thanks guys, I guess I worded it a bit incorrectly. I'm looking for experiences, have you ever been penalised for building links to fast to early? If so how many were you building ect?

I'm essentially rearching to get a good feel of what is actually natural, are 1-5 links per day natural? Is it natural to skip a day?

What do you define as link building that looks natural in terms of volume over periods of time. Keep in mind we are talking about new sites (weeks old)

It is hard to say.. As long as the links are linked to relevant sites with good quality of information it proves more helpful...

your baclink should look natural just keep the same amount of backlinks daily like if you're submitting 30 links daily keep the numbers same for the whole week don't jump till 60 or 65 it will show a sudden spike in your backlink.
ps- the numbers are just for examples.

There are no limits.******** links should always surpass nofollow links.

Why you want to limit the dof0llow links ? More dof0llow links are not affect your site. Quality links are always helpful to your site so you don't worry about the count of dof0llow backlinks build the quality links it will be good to your site.

You can skip many days ... Google don't know always when you added that link
it count from when he index your link
you can add in day one 50 link but google will index 5 on the first days 15 on the second day ...

You increase the number of links slowly and gradually. Unfortunatelly there is no perfect pattern to follow.

Thanks Mate, I think that has answered my question, when it comes to SEO I am awful at wording my questions correctly. I was under the impression google knew when you added the link so I thought they could have seen it as not natural

there is no limit per se...a great number would be 25-40 to start with and as your domain age increases you may increase substantially as this would look very natural
