Hi there,
although this is my first post I have been reading on here for ages.
Anyway, I made my own website using the "income school" method of no backlinks.
"Build and they will come" they said. They didn't.
My site (can I name it here?) is in the fitness niche (I know, too broad) and I did 50 articles, all at least 1,000 words, using KGR or long tail keywords.
I mean, the site looks ok to most people but I get no visits after 1 year since post 30 and 6 months since post 50.
I have read time and time again that you cannot rank in certain niches without backlinks, so what do you guys think?
Is it just a waiting game or should I try backlinks?

if your gonna rank in a niche like fitness, then yes you want powerful backlinks to build your site authority. This will bring you trust from google.

What would you recommend I do then?

Brother. To increase the site authority you need to have backlinks. But do remember the tricks. You have to mantain the perfect ratio between ******** and no follow backlinks

What is this magical "perfect ratio" ?

I haven't heard of "income school" but from what you wrote, it sounds like they told you to not build any backlinks and not do any social signals, promotion, etc?
And that sounds as if they wanted to sell you the thought that it would take a long time so that you wouldn't think it's garbage. If you asked them why you don't see any results for a whole year, they'd probably tell you to wait more time.. "It takes time to earn money online, you just have to keep trying". While that is true, I hate these sorts of "mentoring" and "classes" bullshit. There's so much free information out there, there really isn't a need to pay for something like that.

Now, I'm no SEO expert. But competing with such a competitive niche such as fitness, you will need to do something special to stand out.. Just putting out content (for nobody to see) won't get you far. You need to build backlinks, get social signals, and do other things to get you noticed (for Google, and also for other people).

If I were you, I'd focus on something with low competition, and see if you can rank for it. And then slowly aim for harder and harder keywords. If you haven't gotten anywhere within a year, you need to change something

Whats about u?

Nah, don't bother too much about that ratio because is a JOKE.
Just do what you want. You can rank with no issue if you have only one kind.
Just think about it, Google thinks you don't build links (because you are not allowed to) and all of them come organic from people that like your content. How you can control the ratio?
That is no reason to get penalized.

Brother. If we only create do follow back link google will think we are buying links. Thats why its important to create No follow links also

I am working on adding backlinks to my sites as well and it is a dull process.
Sites like Ahrefs even estimate the number of backlinks that you would need in order to rank for a certain KW.
I would hesitate to buy backlinks outright. But, I think that you can start old school by reaching out to other site admins in your niche and suggesting exchanging backlinks.
Although they are not do follow links, I think that having a social media presence using your links helps and also forums where they accept there. Overall, it is a slow process, but I am told that eventually, once you have gathered enough steam, it will work out.

Pretty dumb of you to not build any BACKLINKS. TBH it is the main thing which determine your website success.

Let them believe that, they really don't care.
It's just another type of seo thing that send people in wrong direction.
Just to clarify this, do you have seen any website with 100% do follow links and got penalization?
I have never seen one and i have some.
Tell me, if 10 people link to your website all with do follow links, Google will hit your website? Just think about it.
All it's matter is quality of links. do follow and no follow is just a signal for Google if it's worth to follow the link or not. Still, Google decide if he do it or not.

Keep things simple, don't overthink SEO with all stories that don't know what Guru invented to look like he is smart.

Shhh man don't let out all the secrets.

Hmmm, think I'm more confused than ever.
I haven't got the budget for expensive backlinks.
What about the sort you get on jvzoo for $49, do they help?

You don't have to have a budget for backlinks. There are many ways to get them for free.

Creating Web 2.0's
Blog comments
Guest posting (doing a guest post on someone else's website)

That's just to name a few. Try searching "How to build backlinks for free". I would advise you to not purchase backlinks here because they can be low quality which can have a negative impact

You can't rank on heavy competitive niche without backlink. For ranking on the fitness niche you have to build links.

OK, is it worth trying blog comments first as I don't know what 2.0 backlinks are?

This forum combined with Google can tell you everything. If you're unsure of terms just google search them.

It's not as simple as 1 blog comment will suddenly make you rank. It can be a long process.. Try to build some sort of strategy and browse this forum, there is loads of useful information here

Web 2.0 is the blogging platforms. As for example blogger, wordPress.com, Tumblr. If you write an article according to your niche and get a do to follow a link from this site then it will matter the most. Few of the Web 2.0 sites are listed below.
1)Blogspot
2) WordPress.com
3) Tumblr
