Brand new domain and redirects

I have a brand new e-commerce domain.

Would it be a bad move to redirect a expired domain with strong metrics to a brand new site?

Want to build authority and get out of sandbox ASAP

If the old domain is niche relevant to the new one, then I don't see anything wrong with that.

It is not a bad idea. But before redirecting check the backlink history clearly it is relevant to your niche and the backlinks are not spammy etc..

Ok thanks guys, so it wouldn't look weird to google that a week old site has acquired a 301 from a site that might of expired years ago, that was hosted in another continent maybe? or you think it can go under the radar?
