Buy? or Don't Buy?

There was another similar thread where the majority of BHW insisted on renting a car rather than buying it. I feel the same. If you are from India, look into zoom cars. They are quite good as I hear. Just rent the car for 6 months, and when you get bored with it; rent another one.

My personal opinion in everything related to vehicle you have to ask yourself how much you really use it?

Ask yourself the following questions...
  • Do you drive your vehicle at least 40 times a month?
  • How long does it take for each drive/trip?
  • Whether your current vehicle is comfortable for driving?
  • Are you looking for thrills in driving?
  • Are you interested in saving the money of gas or it does not matter to you how much it costs and what the price of fuel
The latest advice, a fun car to drive usually needs more fuel .... so if you're not willing to pay more for maintenance and fuel just stick the Mercedes logo instead of the existing logo in your vehicle.
this is one of the awesome reply i got. i don't drive at least 40 times but maybe 10 times a month but when i drive i go at least 50 kilometers.

Buy a bicycle, it's very economical and keeps you in good shape! :p

Anyway, a luxury car will always give you comfort and safety, so in some cases a expensive car is worth the price.

get into somethink that will buy your car for you .

what i done was get a credit card and spent it on a car .

but the credit card was o promotion of 12, months intrest free .

then i done onlne method to get the money to pay the card of over 12 months.

24k - into 12 = 2k a month needed per month.

but like everyone says above boaring all boaring , get driven for me when need go out .

waste of money being honest , could used it for a bricks and water investement .(( we all get old quick))

gas
oil
mot
maintenance
tax
insurance

all ads up even not using the dam thing .

was couple years ago , never do it agin.....

I had it in my mind ill have a good old spend up , then i remember can get credit to pay for the car over a set period time , that was it my adventure started same day , fallish as i was i used a card lol , but luckly payed it all off , got to admit it ,the car/card made me work for it lol , stupid but couldnt rest untill i done it.

Everyone knows that buying a luxury car is a stupid investment, but if it makes you happy just go for it.
Only thing I would consider is your financial situation, my view on buying anything is like this
Small purchases - Do I make that much per day? Yes - Go for it. No - Grind more.
Larger purchases - Do I make that much per month/two months? Yes - Go for it. No - you know what to do..

Also make sure to consider other things like maintenance costs, as well as insurance which can be 10-20% cost of the car PER YEAR and even more depending on the country and the insurance type you are getting. A good thing to consider when getting insurance is the neighbourhood you live in, and the chances that your car might be robbed
good suggestion. i did the valuation and all the calculations already.

haha no zoom car charges 70 bucks per hours. which makes almost $1 per hour.

for me personally, buying car nowadays is kind of a waste especially luxury car, since a lot of online driving service like uber and grab, gojek is so ubiquitous in my place i just use them if i need too.
if you want just buy the cheapest car under usd 12K, no need to buy above that. since the yearly maintenance, gas, tax will also rise.

but if it makes you happy and can afford it, go for it man

thank you op i can afford it.

@RITUJA SINGH Cars are depreciating assets after all, so i guess not a very good idea from business standpoint.

But, I am an out and out autmotive guy. I go for my rides ( motorcycle) and drives on weekends. I am active in multiple automotive groups of India and enjoy talking about cars and bikes. I go for weekend meetups too related to the same.

A middle option of having an enjoyable automobile yes being easy on money would be getting "quality" mods done to your car.

If I earn well i would prefer a car below which i could afford and get performance mods done such as suspension, remap, intercooler upgrades, tyre upgrades ( for starters ). Aesthetics will come afterwards.

So you could probably get those done on a cheaper car and still have a decent running cost ( i know people who have such cars ).

Buy it second hand for a good price, if you resell it later, you won't lose money or even make money. Also if you buy it second hand for a good price its not really a "waste of money" since you got value in form of a car, which you can sell any time for the same price.

I bought an Audi in 2014 from a local dealer in here. Spent around $12k (cash) and two years later I sold it for $12.5k. Only because I was really good in negotiating and had good relations to him already. Actually he wanted $14.5k. When I sold the car I also advised it for 14.5k and the people bought it were really happy to make a deal haha.

If you buy a brand new car the value will decrease a lot and you might get half of the money if you sell it. Getting a brand new car is only good for leasing, because can use the companies money (if you got one) to get it or even set off the price against the taxes.

Buy it, Girls just love luxury cars.
